Chapter 116
Georgia crossed her arms, raising an eyebrow at her mother. “How do you expect me to do all that?”
“To do what, exactly? Get back at Felicity or help me escape this dreadful place?”
“Both,” Georgia replied with a nonchalant shrug.
“I thought it was clear, dear. We must take her power before she turns on you too.” Patricia said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Georgia sighed. “And how do I do that?”
Patricia’s lips curled into a cunning smile. “You can’t possibly turn Connor against her now, so discover the identity of the mystery man. I’m sure he’s the reason she’s so pompous. Make him yours. Use your beauty as your weapon.”
Georgia let out a frustrated breath. “First of all Mom, I’ve been trying to find him, but it’s like he’s vanished into thin air. We are not the only ones searching for him, you know. Even Caster’s looking for him. How can I take what I can’t find?” She had thought of all the possibilities and the only conclusion she could come to was to find a way to hurt the mystery man when she met him again or let Caster do the job for her.
Patricia paused before asking, “What does this have to do with Caster? Why is he searching for our mystery man too?”
“Well… Georgia thought of a way to explain, “The thing is Caster wants Felicity back, so he wants the mystery man out of the picture too.” As she said it out loud, she realised how weird it sounded.
“I don’t get it. I thought Caster was interested in you.”
Georgia sighed, “It’s a long story. He needs her for something.”
“What’s that?”
“I don’t know, Mom!” Georgia exclaimed, tired of the incessant questions she couldn’t answer, realising now that Caster kept a lot of things from her. Overwhelmed, she buried her face in her hands and took a deep, steadying breath.
A stifled silence followed after her outburst.
If Patricia was stunned, she didn’t show it, “Suit yourself, but I hope you come back to your senses.” She shrugged, “I can’t rely on Caster to find our guy,” she said, leaning forward, her gaze piercing. “Make Felicity slip up and reveal his name and whereabouts. You’re smart, Georgia. You know how to play this game.”
“Fine, Mom. I’ll try.” Georgia answered, stubbornly.
Patricia ignored her attitude, “Where does Felicity live now?”
Georgia furrowed her brow, recalling Felicity’s evasive behaviour back when they met at the hospital during Connor’s poisoning. “She wouldn’t say. Seems like she’s hiding something.
Patricia clapped her hands in delight. “Bingo! I bet when you find out where she lives, you’ll find your mystery man. Seduce him, frame him, and secure him for yourself. Then, we’ll kill Felicity.”
Georgia recoiled, her eyes wide. “Kill her? I want no part in that.”
Patricia drew closer, her voice cold and commanding. “Don’t pretend you don’t crave her downfall as much as I do. Don’t you see? If we ever want to be free, that girl has to go.”
Georgia swallowed hard. “Of course, I want her gone, but I’m a public figure. A murder charge would ruin me,” She said angrily. “By the way, you’re in this situation because you tried to kill someone and it backfired. Why would you want to try

again?”
“Because it’s necessary… Fine, I’ll do it alone,” Patricia concluded with conviction. She didn’t feel a slight bit of guilt that she was planning the murder of her niece. “And I’ll ensure your hands stay clean. Just ensure Felicity stays distracted for now.”

Relief washed over Georgia as she reclaimed her seat. “Sure. Now that that’s settled, I have cash. I’ll rent you a better place so you can finally take a bath because you stink. You just have to bear with this for a couple more days. How does that sound?”
“Lovely,” Patricia grimaced before asking, “Are you attending the Princeton’s gala? Felicity will surely be there to represent the Orion group. You can try to milk out some answers then.”
Georgia rolled her eyes at the mention of Felicity’s name again. Yes, I’m Caster’s plus one. His parents returned today, so I must try to impress them.”
Patricia’s expression darkened. “Caster again? Stay away from the Walkers. No amount of effort you put in will impress that family. They’re no good, and you’d be wise to keep your distance.
Georgia’s eyes hardened, meeting her mother’s gaze. “You keep saying that but you’ve not given me a good reason to stay away from them. Why do you and uncle hate them so much?”
“Trust me, you don’t want to know what that family is capable of. Stay away,” Patricia declared as she rose to her feet. Brushing off her dress, she said, “How about we grab a pizza? I’m starving.”
Georgia suppressed a sigh, knowing her mother was dodging her questions once again. She retrieved a dress from her bag and tossed it to Patricia. “Here, change into this. You can’t be seen looking like that.”
Patricia stood in the dilapidated bathroom, the stench of stale air assaulting her senses. As she surveyed the grimy tiles and rusted fixtures, the reality of her situation hit her like a ton of bricks. She was trapped in a squalid apartment, far from the opulence and privilege she had once known. She was everything she despised right now.
Her hair was dirty, and greasy, and was in desperate need of a brush. Her skin was all sticky and dull. Her bare face had exhaustion written all over it, making her wrinkles more apparent.
Here she was in a stinky bathroom like a rat fighting for crumbs. Georgia was right, she did stink.
Clenching her fist, her face twisted into a sadistic smile. “I’ll make you all pay for this.” She silently vowed to herself before regaining her composure.
After she was done, she followed Georgia to her thankfully untouched car. As they drove in search of the nearest fast food joint, they discussed and refined their plan to eliminate Felicity once and for all.
