Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 107

Chapter 107
Ever since Conti’s return to the mansion, Felicity’s words had continued to linger in his thoughts. From time to time, he Found himself discreetly observing Patricia, searching for a trace of the monster Felicity had described, but he couldn’t find
at head not visibly
Crno had even done some digging into the matter secretly, yet he discovered nothing connecting his sister to any form of poison. The only red flag concerning Patricia was her attempt to deceive him into relinquishing control of his company.
He had not yet summoned the courage to confront her about the issue, apprehensive of the answers he might receive. However, he planned to do so in the near future.
But that did not mean he completely lowered his guard. Every food served to him was thoroughly inspected by him before consumption. His brush with death had made him paranoid to the point that he questioned even the slightest drop of water that entered his system.
As Patricia set the tray of milk and cookies before him, the deep-seated fear inside Connor’s heart resurfaced, though not apparent for others to see.
Connor was reluctant to eat the snacks, and his anxiety only eased when Patricia took a bite first. However, drinking the milk was an entirely different challenge. He had nearly died once from a drink before, and God only knew what mysteries this seemingly harmless glass could contain.
So, like he had been doing for the past few days, he thoroughly inspected the beverage. His fell on Billy who was staring at him hungrily, and he had an idea. What better way to test for poison than by offering it to a dog? Dogs had a keen sense of danger.
Was doing this making him a bad brother? It did not sit quite well with Connor to be wary of Patricia and was afraid his suspicions would hurt her, but he was better safe than sorry. After all, a bad brother was better than a dead brother.
“Good boy. Don’t bark so loudly and I’ll give you the whole cup. Connor patted Billy’s head as the dog eagerly drank the chocolate milk from the floor.
Seeing that the dog showed no signs of wariness, Connor began to doubt his own paranoia. Perhaps Felicity had been mistaken.
He picked up his book to resume reading when a heart-wrenching whine from Billy made him freeze. Another cry from the dog and John’s frantic voice shattered the previously tranquil ambiance in the garden.
Connor, shaken, willed himself to turn and see what the problem was, though in his heart, he already suspected what it was, but just needed to confirm it.
Billy, the poor dog, lay pitifully on the stone floor, surrounded by a small pool of blood. The dog was bleeding profusely from his nose and mouth, his eyes filled with immense pain.
“W-What the hell?” Connor frowned at the ghastly sight. He sprang up from his seat and rushed beside the dying dog, “Does he have a disease or something?”
John’s face contorted into a grimace. He had never seen anything like this happen in his life. The sight was quite bizarre. He shook his head, “No, the vet saw him just last week. He was very healthy. I don’t know what happened…” John’s eyes wandered to the wet patch on the floor not too far from them, and Connor caught and followed his gaze. A grim look befell their faces.
“S-Sir, John gulped, stuttering. His eyes darted to Connor. “I think there might have been something wrong with your drink. This is a clear sign of poisoning.”
“No shit, Sherlock, Connor said, grinding his teeth as his hands clenched into white-knuckled fists. His eyes twitched as a myriad of emotions flowed through him.

Chapter 107
Kage, betrayal, resentment, and disappointment all coursed through Connor. He felt his heart break into pieces. Oh, how he had wanted his suspicion to be wrong! But this… Nothing could have prepared him for this. It was simply devastating.
Connor, why are you – Oh my God, what happened?!” Patricia’s voice interrupted them. Her face turned white upon witnessing the bl**dy scene.
Lifting his watery, red eyes, Connor gazed at the woman he had loved, cherished, and sheltered since he was a child, and he gnashed his teeth. This was beyond betrayal.
“Connor, Patricia called out, confused and wary, when she met her brother’s intense gaze. She subconsciously backed away from him.
“What’s happening? Should I call the doctor?” She cautiously approached him and tried to touch him, but he suddenly stood up and grabbed her neck, causing her to yelp in fright.
“Don’t act oblivious, Patricia. I’ve seen through everything,” Connor gritted out before pointing at Billy, who was no longer breathing. “Look at that! You wanted to do that to me.” His hold tightened around her neck.
Patricia was growing dizzier and paler by the second. Her struggle against Connor was futile, and she was running out of breath.
“S-Sir, you going to kill her,” John tried to intervene.
“She tried to kill me first,” Connor spat in reply, “My own sister tried to kill me twice. She deserves to die!”
Patricia’s eyes widened slightly when she heard that. Panic settled in her heart. What happened? How did Connor come to know about her attempt to poison him? And what did he mean by twice?
She wanted to ask all these questions but her airway was blocked. She could only stare pathetically in hopes that Connor would listen to the guard and spare her.
“Sir, I’m sure this is all a misunderstanding. She’s your sister. Please, sir, let her go,” John slowly placed his hands on corners shoulders to calm him down.
His touch seemed to bring Connor to reality as Connor abruptly let Patricia go, causing her to fall on the ground with a thud like a piece of paper.
But Connor wasn’t done. He squatted before her, and spat, his words dripping with venom,
“You better start talking before I feed you to the crows.”
