Chapter 101
“What do you mean?” Felicity inquired, her brows knitting together in confusion.
“You’re injured. You shouldn’t go to work; you need rest, Noah explained, his concern evident in his voice.

hand that is injured, not my legs. Besides, it’s my less dominant hand, so I won’t be using it much anyway.” Felicity reasoned, trying to persuade him.
Noal’s scowl only deepened. “It’s still a no.”
Frustrated, Felicity retorted, “You can’t tell me what to do.” She would have crossed her arms to emphasise her point if it weren’t for her injury.
argue.
Seeing her defiance, Noah sighed, brushing a hand over his face in exhaustion. “Felicity, let’s not start. I don’t want almost lost you yesterday, and it’s too early to let you go again, he confessed, revealing the vulnerability that lay beneath his
strong exterior.
Felicity calmed down a little seeing his dejected look. She realized she wasn’t the only one who was affected by yesterday’s incident. He was too.
“I understand but…” Felicity sighed. Taking a seat on the bed, she explained her predicament. “My dad threatened to relieve me of my position in the company.”
Noah’s eyes widened in surprise. “Why?”
“As punishment for disrespecting Patricia,” Felicity spat, a mixture of disappointment and anger bubbling up inside her.
Noah scoffed, clearly displeased by Connor’s actions. “After everything, that’s how he repays you? Do you want me to talk to him?”
Felicity couldn’t help but smile, grateful for Noah’s unwavering support. “No, but thank you. That’s why I need to go to the office. I don’t want to give him a reason to fire me. I just can’t leave that position right now, not until Patricia is out of our life for good.”
Understanding her dilemma, Noah nodded. He was disappointed that Connor would mistreat Felicity despite everything she had done for his well-being. “Fine, but take care of yourself. He relented, “If anything happens, call me,” he said sternly.
“Thank you, I will,” Felicity said, her smile brightening up the room as she rushed to the closet to get dressed.
In no time, she was fully dressed in a white corporate gown, golden threads beautifully embroidered at the hems. Paired with stilettos, she looked nothing like the vulnerable woman she was earlier. She had washed that woman off in the shower.
“You look beautiful, Noah complimented her, watching her from the door with a smile playing on his lips.
Felicity did a small curtsy. “Thank you? She said, before twirling around in front of the mirror. She decided to leave her hair out today, letting it cascade down her shoulders, making her look like a fairy.
“Come on, Noah said, sueaking his hand around her waist and pulling her gently back towards the bed. “Let’s change your bandage.”
Felicity nodded and sat still as he brought the first aid box. Sitting beside her, Noah carefully unwrapped the layers of her. left hand, revealing the extent of her injuries.
With each layer, her hand grew redder, and the horrific sight of the numerous cuts caused by the glass made Felicity’s heart sink. She had never suffered so many injuries in her life before. It was disheartening.
“I’ll find him and make him pay.” Noah muttered, his voice filled with anger at the sight of the wounds on the skin he

cherished so much
Felicity looked downcast. “You know,” she began with a weak voice. “I didn’t even fight. I just hid
“You did the right thing, Felicity. He was dangerous” Noah tried to reason with her.
But Felicity shook her head, “No, you don’t get it. I should have stood my ground instead of fleeing like a coward. I was so afraid…so paralyzed. I couldn’t move.”
Gently grasping her shoulders, Noah broke her out of her reverie. She looked up at him, her eyes slightly teary
Don’t say that. He scolded, his eyes burning with something she couldn’t describe. “Y not a coward. You’re the strongest woman I know. You escaped your manipulative ex and your scheming cousin and weren’t afraid to expose them for what they were. You saved Axel’s life, married me, and took back everything that was yours without backing down. You saved your dad’s life and his company, even when everyone chastised you. That takes guts, Felicity
So never undermine yourself again,” he continued, his voice softening. “You did the right thing by running because it might have cost your life if you didn’t. It was the smartest thing to do. Do you understand?”
Felicity managed a smile through her tears and nodded. At that moment, Noah seemed like a beacon of hope in her dark world. “Thank you for everything”
“It’s my pleasure, Noah responded, returning his focus to treating her hand. “This is going to hurt He warned before applying ointment to the wound, causing Felicity to wince in pain.
She bit her lip to hold back the tears, but Noah used his hand to free her lips. “Don’t hurt yourself. You can cry
Felicity let out a teary laugh despite the pain, her thoughts drifting back to when Noah had said the same thing during her dad’s surgery. She couldn’t hold back her tears then, and she couldn’t now. “If you keep saying that, then I’ll always cry.
“I don’t mind as long as you’re crying for me, Noah teased, trying to distract her from the pain.
“Ugh!” Felicity rolled her eyes, wiping her face just as Noah began dressing her hand with a fresh bandage.
Once he finished, Felicity admired his handiwork. “You can wrap quite well.”
“That’s not the only thing I can do quite well,” he insinuated with a wink. Felicity playfully hit his chest with her right hand.
“Stop,” she said, her voice filled with amusement. “Where did you learn to dress a wound?
“Okay,” Noah answered, chuckling. “Growing up, lan, Axel, and I got into trouble a lot, resulting in some serious injuries. At one point, my mother got tired of always tending to our injuries, so she taught us how to do it ourselves”
“That sounds like Rebecca, Felicity thought aloud, smiling at the image of the stern matriarch teaching her boys first aid. “What kind of trouble did you guys get into?” she asked, her interest piqued.
Noah’s smile wavered slightly at the question. “Ummm, one time when we were ten, we snuck out of the house and got lost in the forest for a day. When we were finally found, we were littered with injuries and bug bites, Ian had sprained his ankle badly, and Axel was stung by a scorpion.”
“Oh my God,” Felicity burst out laughing, imagining the trio of troublemakers wandering through the woods. “You guys did that? I can’t believe lan went along with it! He didn’t stop you guys?” She asked, knowing that lan seemed like the most responsible of the three.
“Oh, he did try to stop us, Noah admitted with a chuckle. “But you know the saying, if you can’t beat them, join them, right? He couldn’t walk for weeks after that incident.” The two of them arted laughing, sharing a lighthearted moment together,
Felicity laughed until her stomach hurt, even snorting on a few occasions. Noah paused, gazing at her fenderly. He had never seen her laugh so freely and openly, and he liked it.

Gently tucking a piece of her hair behind her ear, he leaned in and connected their lips in a tender kiss. Felicity, surprised at first, soon smiled against the kiss, allowing herself to get lost in the moment.
As they parted, Felicity whispered, “I should get to work.”
“Do you have to?” Noah asked, pouting playfully.
Felicity pinched his cheeks with a teasing grin. “I do.”
Bringing her hand to his lips, Noah placed a light kiss on it. “Then I’ll drive you.”
Felicity wanted to argue that she could drive herself but then remembered her injured hand. With a small nod, she agreed.
“Sure.”
