Unloving Him: Marrying the Rival Tycoon novel Chapter 3

Hearing her words, Kelvin slowly lifted his gaze, a flicker of irritation settling between his brows.

He snapped his laptop shut and stood up. His towering, formidable frame immediately cast a shadow over Summer, exuding his usual suffocating dominance.-

Summer instinctively pressed her lips together and stiffened her spine, but the look in her eyes remained absolutely unwavering.

"What are you throwing a tantrum about now?"

His cold, impatient demand caught her off guard.

Did he seriously think she was just trying to pick a fight?

"I'm not throwing a tantrum. I'm dead serious."

Summer repeated her words, her voice eerily calm.

The last shred of Kelvin's patience evaporated. He glared at her as if she were an absurd joke.

Three years ago, she had blackmailed his grandfather into forcing this marriage. Ever since, she had desperately played the role of the perfect, devoted wife, hovering around him for scraps of attention. After scheming for so long, there was no way she would willingly give up the luxurious life she had secured.

He was certain this was all a pathetic stunt. She must have seen him at the clinic with Adeline, panicked over her crumbling status, and decided to pull this cheap trick to force a commitment out of him.

"You want a divorce? Fine by me."

He grabbed his laptop, turned on his heel, and walked into his bedroom.

Summer watched him go, her eyelashes fluttering slightly.

Over the years, she had grown far too used to staring at his back.

But this time, she wasn't going to wait for him to turn around.

The next morning, Summer woke up at the crack of dawn.

She had scheduled an appointment with a divorce attorney and needed to swing by Shorehaven University to submit her fellowship paperwork to Professor Halloway.

As she headed downstairs, the housekeeper, Wendy, assumed she was rushing to make Kelvin's breakfast. After all, whenever he actually spent the night, Summer personally catered to his every need.

"Ma'am, I have all the ingredients prepped just like you asked. Would you like to start cooking now?"

A faint, dismissive smile touched Summer's lips. "I have errands to run today. You handle it."

With that, she walked out the front door, leaving Wendy staring after her in pure shock.

Not long after Summer left, Kelvin came downstairs to find breakfast already served.

Summer was nowhere to be seen. Usually, the moment he stepped into the dining room, she would be buzzing around the table like an annoying little bird, trying to engage him in conversation regardless of how little he responded.

Her absence today didn't particularly bother him.
