Dominic had already looked up, his gaze locking onto her. Those usually aloof eyes were now filled with absolute venom.
"Apologize."
That single word sliced through Seraphina's heart like a serrated blade.
Seraphina stood completely still, before a slow, bitter smile spread across her face.
"You want me to apologize?"
Dominic furrowed his brow, speaking with self-righteous fury. "You pushed her. Do you honestly think you don't owe her an apology?"
Seraphina stared at him, closed her eyes, and let an indescribable wave of exhaustion wash over her.
It had literally happened right in front of him, yet he didn't even bother to ask what had occurred.
Simply because Cynthia had shed a few crocodile tears, he had already convicted her.
Seeing her continued silence, Dominic's expression darkened drastically, his words dipping in temperature. "Seraphina, I don't want to make a scene here. Apologize to Cynthia right now."
A crowd had already stopped to watch, eager eyes tracking the drama unfolding on the sidewalk.
Standing beneath the glow of the streetlamp, listening to him act like a fiercely protective husband, Seraphina just felt a freezing numbness spread through her chest.
She looked at Dominic, and after a long silence, the corner of her lips twitched upwards.
"Dominic, instead of playing the knight in shining armor out here, you'd be better off just signing the divorce papers. After all, with how obsessively you're defending her, if we drag this out any longer, she really is going to look like the other woman."
The air around them instantly went dead. Cynthia's face drained of color, and Dominic's features hardened completely.
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"Whether it's nonsense or the truth, you know perfectly well."
Seraphina sneered, her voice ringing with absolute certainty. "I gave you time, and I gave you a graceful exit. So, Dominic, don't push me to a point where I strip away whatever dignity you have left."
With that, she didn't waste another glance on either of them, turning purely on her heel and walking away.
Dominic stood frozen in place, his gaze glued to her retreating silhouette, completely unable to form a word.
