But Seraphina was completely done living the way she used to. Why on earth would she fight for a child who didn't want her?
She was abandoning both Dominic and Lily. For good.
Dominic narrowed his eyes. "Do you even hear the words coming out of your mouth?"
"Loud and clear. You keep custody. Raise her well," Seraphina replied without a fraction of hesitation.
Dominic's voice dropped several degrees. "Seraphina, playing hard to get won't work on me."
Seraphina chuckled. God, Dominic was so unbearably arrogant.
"I'm not playing games, Dominic. Redraft the asset division, put full custody under your name, and email me the final copy."
With that, she yanked the cab door open and slid inside.
Dominic stood on the curb, his eyes dark and stormy as he watched the car merge into traffic. A complex, unreadable shadow fell over his face.
Inside the cab, Seraphina slumped against the leather seat. The window was cracked, letting in a cool breeze as the streetlights blurred past. Her mind was a chaotic highlight reel of everything that had gone down today.
She inhaled deeply, a dull ache settling heavily in her chest.
Suddenly, her phone buzzed.
She glanced at the screen. Alistair Lennox.
She stared at the name for a long, heavy moment, letting it ring.
Ever since the Lennox family tracked her down as their biological daughter, returning to that house required exhausting mental preparation.
Every visit was a psychological war zone.
Lauren always found a way to manipulate the situation, painting Seraphina as the villain, and Alistair and Eleanor inevitably took Lauren's side.
The call ended, only to immediately start ringing again.
Taking a steadying breath, Seraphina hit accept.
"Seraphina, where are you? Come home for dinner tonight," Eleanor's voice drifted through the speaker, utterly devoid of warmth.
"Mom, I'm tied up the next few days. Let's reschedule."
