Underwater: The Silent Luna
Chapter 271
Ethan knew Malcolm must have been in such a bad position that he would lose his grammar sense and let go. That alone told him
the man was under more pressure than he probably admitted,
“If what he says about Sebastien is true, then the Alpha only trusts Cynthia now, which is why he put her in charge. She can’t
command this place, so he put the one man he believes we hate and suspect in charge. Had we not worked through our differences
with Levi, we would have been at loggerheads with him, and he could use the divide and rule tactic with us,” Ethan said, analysing
the situation.
Joseph did not see it that way until Ethan spoke of it. He leaned back slightly, thinking through the pieces. Cynthia was weak bu
easy to control. Levi was respected but wounded by suspicion. Sebastien was stronger but possibly no longer trusted. The
anonymous Alpha had not only taken over Whitewood; he had tried to break the family structure from inside. If Levi had remained
angry and isolated, Cynthia would have had the perfect weapon.
“We need to find a way to leave this place so we can gather an army and train them while we investigate who this Alpha is. Malcolm’s idea is the best. Finding the man means no one would die, but if people have to die, we need to be prepared,” Ethan said.
Joseph agreed.
They talked about trivial things for a while, letting the good news settle enough not to feel like a dream. Then Joseph suddenly started laughing, remembering his encounter with Cynthia in the corridor before he came to Ethan’s room.
“I moved to this wing to avoid Cynthia, but she refused to let me avoid her. She accosted me when I left my room heading to this
place,” Joseph told his brother.
Ethan frowned.
“What did she want?” Ethan asked.
Joseph laughed again, though there was disgust beneath it.
“She wanted me to fuck her. It was plain and simple. She wasn’t asking for love or commitment. She just wanted to fuck, and she was too damn drunk. As if she needed the alcohol to build up the courage to ask for what she wants,” Joseph said.
Ethan was surprised by what Joseph told him. He wondered what Cynthia had been doing during the seven years they had been apart because her behaviour was nothing like that of the girl he used to know. Or maybe she had been pretending with him all along. Maybe the sweet girl he thought he loved had always been a version she wore because he was useful then. Either way, he was
glad she was not in his life anymore. He thanked the goddess for Meadow.
Meadow looked at Ethan with raised brows, and he shook his head slightly, as if telling her not to even bother trying to understand
Cynthia. There was nothing worth understanding there anymore.
“So, how are we doing the donor thing?” Ethan finally asked Joseph.

Chapter 271
Joseph said he was going to organise everything. He would reach out to Malcolm again, discuss Leah’s availability, and arrange for Doctor Rosenberg to handle the compatibility process secretly. They would need to be careful. If Cynthia learned they had found a donor for Amber, she might try to interfere. If the anonymous Alpha learned of it, he might decide Amber was too dangerous to let live.
While Joseph figured that out, they still had to get Cynthia to release their people. Ethan said he would handle that aspect, and Joseph accepted his brother’s decision. Ethan had always been better at playing a long game when he forced himself to be patient. joseph was violence waiting for the right door to open. Ethan was the one who studied the lock.
Another six days passed, and Ethan’s back was completely healed.
It was a miracle. The urgency of the situation had caused Echo to move very fast. What should have taken a month or more had
taken three weeks instead. The wound on Ethan’s back had closed fully, the skin firm and smooth enough to make even Doctor Rosenberg shake his head in disbelief when Ethan sent him updates. But Ethan knew it was not only Alpha healing. It was Echo. His
wolf had been working like a beast trapped under the ground, clawing his way back to the surface with one purpose.
