Chapter 270
One thing was certain. He had to get everyone out of the mansion so they could train, plan, and prepare properly. Meadow needed
the therapy she had been denied for years. She needed Camila’s help to overcome the compulsion that had rendered her speechless
since childhood. That truth bothered Ethan more deeply than he said aloud. Meadow had carried silence because someone had
forced it into her. Every day without therapy felt like another day stolen from her. Another day the unknown Alpha and everyone
connected to that old command kept winning.
Ethan did not know how to get them out, and it troubled his mind. He had thought it would be easy initially. Cynthia was careless.
Her warriors were arrogant. The mansion was familiar to them. But with everyone loyal behind bars and hostile warriors stationed everywhere, Ethan knew they did not stand a chance yet. Not without the right timing. Not without his legs. Not without a clear
plan.
“Are you in your room?” he heard Joseph’s voice in his head.
His brother sounded excited.
Ethan frowned slightly. Excitement had become so rare in that house that it almost felt suspicious. He wondered what had caused it
and looked forward to sharing whatever good news Joseph carried.
“Yes,” Ethan replied.
Joseph told him he was heading to his room.
“Joseph is coming, darling. I do not know if you will be comfortable since we are naked,” Ethan said.
Meadow smiled at him and slipped out of bed to get their robes. She moved with that easy quietness he had come to love, beautiful even when exhausted. She wore hers first, then helped him wear his. Ethan let her, even though he was no longer as helpless as before. There was tenderness in allowing her to care for him, and he knew she liked doing it because it made her feel useful in a
world that had made her feel voiceless for too long.
She had just finished helping him put on his robe when Joseph knocked on the door.
Meadow went to open it immediately, knowing who it was. They had started locking their door because of Cynthia. She had made it her duty to parade their corridor for the two weeks she had been in the mansion. They had hoped she would remain in the main wing where she had allocated a room to herself, but Cynthia had spent more time invading their wing than staying in hers. It was as if she could not resist hovering near Ethan’s life, sniffing around for a crack she could crawl into.
Joseph entered and smiled at Meadow. His eyes softened with respect when he saw her, but a second later his nose caught the scent
in the air, and his smile shifted into amusement.
He knew he had interrupted them. He could smell it.
“You should have told me you were busy,” Joseph linked Ethan.

Chapter 270
Ethan shook his head.
“We were about to sleep,” Ethan confessed.
Meadow went to get something from the mini-fridge, giving the brothers privacy without truly leaving them. She took three cans of soda and distributed them. Joseph’s excitement was so obvious that it made her interested in what he had to say. Even before he
spoke, Meadow could feel that whatever he carried was not bad news. In that house, even the smell of good news felt almost
strange.
Joseph opened his can and wasted no time. He told Ethan all he had discussed with Alpha Malcolm; the strange state of things in Ceenas, Sebastien’s unusual leniency, and Malcolm’s decision to team up with them. Ethan listened carefully, his expression shifting
from curiosity to relief.
Ethan was glad.
They needed an ally in a time like this, and though Malcolm was an unlikely ally, the allegiance had come at the right moment. He was more of a saving grace now. Malcolm might not have a ready army to offer, but he had knowledge, a pack under similar pressure, and a reason to want the anonymous Alpha exposed. Sometimes shared enemies built stronger bridges than old
friendships.
Ethan knew they needed to find a way to move everyone out of the mansion so they could prepare properly. A plan was forming,
still rough around the edges, but real.
“I haven’t given you the best news yet,” Joseph said.
Ethan looked at him, wondering what could possibly be better than what Joseph had already said.
“Malcolm’s half-sister, Leah, is B negative, and he offered that she be Mother’s donor,” Joseph said.
Ethan went still.
Meadow, too, was shocked that such a great outcome could befall them at such a time. For a moment, the room felt too quiet. After weeks of fear, after Agnes and her poisoned bargain, after Amber deteriorating faster than predicted, the idea that a donor had appeared through Malcolm felt almost unreal. The kindness was so incredible that it left room for doubt, but they all knew Malcolm was being sincere. If anything, the Alpha was too blunt for his own good. He had nothing to gain from lying about something like this. They were all in a tight position, but his extended kindness had shone a light at the end of the tunnel.
“Did he ask for anything as payment?” Ethan asked Joseph.
Joseph shook his head.
“Not at all. It was a kind gesture on his part,” Joseph said.
Ethan knew he had to thank the Alpha personally. There were favours, and then there were favours that saved mothers from death and families from impossible choices. This was not something a simple thank you could repay, but it was where he would start.

Chapter 270
Joseph went as far as telling Ethan that Malcolm had used the word very in his sentence. It was a private joke between brothers, and
they both laughed while Meadow looked from one man to the other, wondering what was funny about using the word very. The
mòment was small, but it mattered. For a few seconds, the room was not filled with Cynthia, locked cells, unknown enemies, poison,
or war. It was just Ethan and Joseph laughing like brothers over something harmless.
