Underwater: The Silent Luna novel Chapter 272

Chapter 272

Meadow woke up one morning feeling restless in a way that made heat crawl through her body before her eyes fully opened. She felt

an overwhelming need for her mate, and she knew it was Nightshade. Her wolf was awake under her skin, pushing warmth through

her, making her overly aware of Ethan beside her. Meadow could feel Echo stronger than she used to, and she sensed there was

improvement. It was not something Ethan had said. It was something in the bond. A pulse. A pressure. A quiet promise.

Not wanting to disturb Ethan, Meadow went to brush her teeth with the hope that she would have calmed down by the time she wa

through. The cold water helped a little. So did breathing slowly and reminding herself that Ethan needed rest. They had spent the

past weeks stealing intimacy in the middle of fear, but she still tried to be careful with him. His healing mattered more than her

desire, no matter how strong Nightshade became in the mornings.

It worked enough for her to return to the bed with a clearer head. She moved back to help Ethan exercise. It had become of

part their routine now. She would massage his legs, stretch them gently, work the muscles, and quietly hope for signs she tried not to beg the goddess for too openly. But the moment she sat near him, his forest scent took over Her senses. It wrapped around her,

warm and deep, carrying Ethan and Echo together in a way that made Nightshade stir happily.

Instead of giving him a proper massage, Meadow found herself caressing his thighs.

Her touch was slower than it should have been. Softer. Not medical at all. She did not even realise how sensual it had become until

Ethan shifted in his sleep and moaned softly.

Ethan felt someone touching his leg sensually in his sleep and moaned a little before waking up.

Meadow froze.

Shock passed through her so suddenly that her hand stopped on his thigh. She had only been preparing to exercise his legs. At least that was what she told herself. But now Ethan had reacted. Not because he imagined it. Not because she touched some place above

the numbness. He had felt her. He had truly felt her touch.

She was so shocked that she froze on the bed.

Ethan opened his eyes and realised what had happened. For a second, he simply looked at her, then at her hand on his leg. He sat up gently, careful not to move too fast out of habit, and gradually noticed that the feeling in his legs had increased. It was not full control yet. He doubted he could wiggle his toes, but the sensation was stronger. Clearer. More present than it had been even days

ago.

“You can feel my touch,” Meadow linked him with tears in her eyes.

Ethan felt like a jerk for not telling her he had felt the improvement long ago. It had not just happened now. He had felt faint touches before, hints of sensation that came and went like shy sparks under his skin. He had kept it from her deliberately because he wanted to surprise her properly. He had imagined one day moving his toes, maybe standing, giving her a moment so beautiful it

would erase all the waiting. He had wanted to hand her proof, not maybes.

He had surprised her in the end, but not the way he wanted.

He nodded, not wanting to annoy her by admitting he had hidden that part of his progress from her.

Meadow hugged him tightly and buried her face in his neck. Her body trembled against him, and Ethan closed his arms around her, holding her as firmly as he could. Her tears warmed his skin, but they were not sad tears. Not entirely. They carried relief, joy, fear, and all the hope she had been holding back because hope was dangerous when people were still trying to destroy them.

“Thank Goddess, Ethan, I am so happy. This means there is hope,” Meadow linked, kissing his neck sweetly.

Her rose scent filled his senses, making Echo want to take over. Ethan breathed her in deeply, his hands moving over her back with a hunger that was not only physical. He wanted to claim peace with her. He wanted to give her a life where she could speak, laugh, train, rule, and never again feel like the unwanted daughter thrown away by her parents. He wanted to stand beside her, not sit beneath people’s pity.

Ethan felt different that morning. There was a strength inside him that had been missing for years, and he knew it was his wolf.

Echo was no longer a faint presence fighting from far away. He was closer now. Stronger. Still not fully free, but close enough for

Ethan to feel him in his bones.

He held on to Meadow and breathed her in.

“It will soon be over, my love, and we will have the peace we deserve again,” Ethan said with a promise.

The drastic improvement in his health gave him hope, and somehow he knew all was not over.
