Chapter 255
Agnes said nothing.
“You used your daughter to blackmail me, threatening to tell Amber a lot of lies that she would believe if I did not wire specific
amounts to you. Please, do not make it seem like I was seeing you for pleasure or love. I had no choice but to see you. Ines was too-
young then to be dragged into our mess. I also did not want you to go to Amber because I knew she wouldn’t listen to reason, Levi
said.
His voice shook a little at the mention of Ines, and Meadow noticed it. Whatever doubts Levi had about the girl’s paternity, he had
still cared. He had still sent money. He had still shown up. That made the whole thing even messier.
“Now that it is out in the open, I am free. If you want me in your house as payment for donating part of your liver, so be it. But do
not love you, Agnes,” Levi told her.
Ethan and Joseph did not know how to feel about it. There was too much truth in the room and none of it clean.
“Our mother won’t take her liver,” Joseph said.
Levi looked at him with pleading eyes.
“I did not spill all my secrets so you will make this decision. She has to live. I promised Cain so many things, please. I know he
would have done the same had I been killed,” Levi said.
The pain in his voice made Joseph look away. Levi was not begging for himself. He was begging for Amber. He was willing to walk back into Agnes’s life, carry a loveless bargain, and lose the woman he truly loved if it meant Amber survived.
But Ethan and Joseph did not seem interested in the liver anymore.
“That is precisely why we won’t take the liver. My mother would rather have you for the six remaining months than live many years without you,” Ethan said, knowing exactly what would happen.
Ethan understood what Agnes had done and the hold she had on Levi. He wanted to break that power so she could let him be. What Agnes felt for Levi was not love. It was obsession. She felt in competition with Amber, and in her mind, this was a game she had waited seventeen years to win. Ethan knew it was best to break it now, even if it meant pushing their luck with Amber’s condition.
“As for Ines, I think a DNA test is in order. If truly she is yours, then she is welcome. At least Joseph and I will have a sister,” Ethan
said, looking at Agnes.
Agnes stiffened.
“I know a scheming, lying woman when I see one. Trust me, I have dated one in the past. Just like you, she is a gift that keeps giving. I will give you one chance to come clean about Ines before she takes the test, but you won’t be taking our stepfather from us. You can keep your O negative blood type and liver. We can deal without it,” Ethan told her point blank.

Chapter 255
After everything that had happened, Ethan knew Levi could be trusted. Yes, he was mad at the man for the fear he had driven into
Meadow, but they needed all hands on deck. The unknown Alpha had named Levi Alpha for a reason. They needed to follow through
so they could catch him. From the look of things, Levi was a fool for their mother, so his loyalty would not be questioned.
Meanwhile, they would have to intensify the search for an O-negative or B-negative donor because they knew Amber would not be
happy accepting Agnes’s liver.
