“Wait, is she a Beta or Alpha?” Joseph quickly asked.

Levi shook his head.

“She is Delta breed, and I told her everything Dr Rosenberg told me. I told her of the dangers and the possibility of it being fatal on

her part, and she was willing to risk it,” Levi said.

Ethan understood immediately that Levi must mean a lot to Agnes for her to risk her life just to have him back. A Delta donating part of her liver was not the same as an Alpha or Beta doing it. The danger was higher. The recovery would be harder. She was not offering something small. She was putting her life on the line, and her price was Levi.

Ethan also knew there was more to the story. There had to be. But they had insulted the man enough. They had stripped enough

from him for one day. He decided to let that part rest for now.

“So you will divorce mother and get with her once all this is over?” Ethan asked, doubting their mother would be able to handle the

heartbreak.

Levi nodded.

“A deal is a deal, and with all that Joseph has said here, there is no point wasting my time here anymore. I have spent seventeen years of my life trying to keep this together, but I believe it is time for me to bow out,” he said.

There was a resolve in his voice that made Ethan know Joseph had indeed crossed the line with their stepfather. This was not a threat. It was not anger speaking loudly just to punish them. Levi sounded like a man who had reached the end of a long road and was finally too tired to continue walking it for people who still saw him as an outsider when things became dark.

Ethan knew he could not allow Levi to leave their mother. Not like that. Not when Amber would wake up, hopefully, and learn that the price of her life was the loss of the man who had stayed with her through grief, stubbornness and all the years she refused to let

go of the past.

“What if we offer her money or something else? Would she agree?” Ethan asked.

Levi chuckled.

“Money can’t solve every problem. She just wants me back,” Levi replied.

They all moved into the mansion and headed towards Amber’s wing of the house. The compound still felt poisoned by what Cynthia

had done. The workers had been dragged away. Warriors were taking positions like they owned the place. The house did not feel like

home. Not now. But the conversation with Levi made everything else feel even more unstable.

“You clearly have no feelings for her. You love our mother; that is why…” Ethan started, trying to do damage control.

Levi stopped him.

Chapter 246

“My work here is done. Good luck with dealing with Cynthia and her boss. I do not want a part of this shit. I am done with the McCloud drama. It’s time for me to bow out so you all can look for your culprit elsewhere,” Levi said.

The words were calm, and that made them worse. If he had shouted, Ethan might have had something to fight. But Levi only

sounded finished.

He went into his room to shower and change so he could go to the hospital and sign the consent form. Of course, it would take months for his divorce to pull through once it was filed. He would still have time with Amber to say goodbye properly before returning to Agnes. As things were, he did not mind Meadow saying what she knew about him, and he believed there was no point in Rashel keeping an eye on the girl to ensure she did not spill his secret. What he was hiding was hot a crime. It was just unfortunate that Cain had died. He would not need to hide his past if Cain had not been killed.

Ethan was mad at Joseph.
