Underwater: The Silent Luna novel Chapter 242

Chapter 242

In those moments, Joseph summed it all up. The long trip Levi had taken. The excuse he never gave for leaving his wife at the hospital. His mother’s poisoning. Their father’s death. It was just as Uncle Linus had warned them. He had told them not to trust Levi. He had warned Amber, but she had not listened. Joseph thought of Ethan’s accident too. The silver in his spine. The careful way someone close would have known exactly how to hurt them and keep the family standing just enough to be useful. Only

someone close to them could successfully do those things.

Levi’s wolf was also brown.

Joseph’s mind flashed to Alan Wilde. Levi knew they would meet him. Levi had offered to come with them. Levi had also been investigating their father’s case until Ethan took over and then Joseph. Could it be that Levi had played them all along and only pretended to seek the truth so he could control where the investigation went? Could he have been standing beside them all these years, watching them bleed from wounds he helped create?

Joseph looked at the shock on his stepfather’s face.

If Levi was with them, why jump into the battle? Why get stabbed? Why risk his life? Could it have been an act just in case his plan did not pull through? Had he allowed himself to be wounded so no one would suspect him? The questions came too fast. Joseph was dumbfounded and did not say a word at first.

“I beg your pardon?” Levi asked, looking shocked at Cynthia’s words.

“You heard me. My Alpha said I should name you Alpha because you aren’t a McCloud, and it is your duty to serve whoever is in charge. He said you would answer to both of us directly,” she said.

Joseph caught the way she added herself into the mix. Levi was meant to answer to the Alpha directly, but Cynthia wanted power close enough to touch. Even now, she was stretching the order to make herself more important.

“I do not know who your Alpha is and do not care, but I am not interested in this shit. The only reason I stuck around was because

of my wife,” Levi said.

Joseph punched him in the face before he finished.

The blow was sudden, hard enough to make Levi stagger. Gasps broke out from some of the workers. A few wolves growled, but no one moved immediately. Levi turned back to Joseph, stunned, and saw nothing but pure rage in his stepson’s eyes.

“You bastard! You fucking bastard. Uncle Linus warned us about you. He told us not to trust you. He warned my mother, but she did

not listen,” Joseph yelled.

Levi stood there, shocked.

“You set this all up. You fucking traitor. Hope you are happy now!” Joseph yelled.

Levi did not know he was a suspect in the eyes of his stepsons. Cain’s son stood before him, shaking with rage, and Levi looked like

someone had reached inside his chest and ripped something out. He was tongue-tied, not because he had no words, but because the accusation was too large, too sudden, too cruel to answer quickly.

“She loved you, you know. She never showed it because of her heartbreak, but she loved you through it all,” Joseph said, his voice breaking around the anger.

Levi flinched at that.

“She protected and loved you, and how do you repay her? You tried to kill her sons, maybe even murdered your best friend in cold blood. You poisoned her slowly and took everything from her. Pack and all. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. I held you in high

esteem,” Joseph said with tears forming in his eyes.

The tears made the words worse. This was not only accusation. This was betrayal from a son who had wanted to believe in the man

standing before him.

“I saw you as my father. I was grateful to the goddess for bringing you into our lives; little did I know you were evil and the source

of our pain. I hope you rot, Levi. I will never call you Alpha or answer to you, and if you are not careful, I will be the first to bury

silver in your heart just like you did to my father!” he yelled.

Levi was so shocked that he fell to his knees.

Not because Cynthia ordered it. Not because silver forced him. He fell like a man whose legs no longer trusted the world beneath him. The accusation had cut through him too deeply to stand. His face changed completely. Anger, grief, disbelief, and hurt moved

over it in waves.
