Underwater: The Silent Luna novel Chapter 215

Chapter 215

By the time Joseph finished, Ethan’s hope had deflated. Not vanished completely, but wounded. Neither of them knew where to start. They had so much to do and little time to do it. Find allies. Build an army. Train in secret. Investigate Cynthia. Investigate Sebastien. Find the unknown Alpha who ordered the silver in Ethan’s spine. Weed out traitors. Protect Meadow. Keep Ethan’s

surgery hidden. Save Amber.

It felt like trying to hold back a flood with bare hands.

Joseph got up, ready to excuse Ethan, and Ethan knew why. They both knew Meadow would exit the bathroom any minute. Joseph was tired, and the conversation had gone as far as it could for now.

“I will leave you to your wife while I head back to my room,” Joseph said, eager to rest.

Although it was afternoon, they all needed the rest. The body did not care what time it was when grief and fear had been dragging

it since yesterday.

“Please send for Victoria. I am sure Meadow would want to see her,” Ethan requested through the mind link so Meadow would not

hear in case she was eavesdropping.

He doubted she was, but he wanted to be sure. It was a small thing, sending for Victoria, but small things mattered when everything else was falling apart. Meadow needed someone familiar. Someone who belonged to her life before all this became so heavy. Someone who could sit with her and make the mansion feel a little less like enemy ground.

Joseph smiled and nodded, then exited the room.

Ethan was alone for a moment, and the silence rushed in immediately. He thought of all that needed to be done. Healing. Training. Building an army. Forging alliances. Investigating who the main problem was. Investigating Cynthia and Sebastien. Finding a donor for their mother. Protecting the lie about his condition. Watching the staff. Moving carefully until they understood where the knives

were hidden.

They had to do all this within a limited time frame. They had to ensure they had achieved most of the things on that list before Sebastien found out the document bore the wrong name and signature. Once he discovered the trick, he would come harder. There would be no surface control then. No patient arrogance. No mocking letters. He would move to crush them before Ethan could rise.

It was a daunting task for all of them and would have been next to impossible had Dr James not removed the shards in his spine. That truth humbled Ethan in a way he did not like but could not deny. Dr James had committed a terrible crime. He had helped ruin him. But he had also returned to undo what he could. Because of him, Ethan could hope. Because of him, Echo was stirring. Because of him, the enemies who believed Ethan remained broken might not see him coming.

Now Ethan was optimistic.

He thought of Dr James and hoped the good doctor was safe. The man was hiding permanently, or trying to. Whoever had ordered Ethan’s spine ruined had already killed Dr Mark when he threatened to confess. There was no reason to believe Dr James would be spared if they found him. Ethan still had anger for what he had done, but he could not deny the risk the man had taken to fix it.

Chapter 215

Meadow finally exited the bathroom in her towel and looked around to be sure Joseph was not there. Ethan smiled at her. The sight of her softened the room instantly. The towel clung to her skin, her hair damp, her face calmer after the shower but still carrying the weight of everything. She looked at him, and for a moment the war, the traitors, the failing liver, the stolen pack, all of it moved back just enough for him to breathe.

“You deliberately went to shower without me?” he said to her, trying to take his mind off everything happening.

Meadow shook her head.

“Whenever you are ready, I will clean you up,” she said.

There was a time it broke his heart that she had to do that consistently. A time when every act of care from her reminded him of

what he could not do, of the body that had trapped him, of the manhood and independence silver had stolen. Now, it still hurt, but

differently. He was counting down to the day he would be able to do everything for himself. The day he would stand without help

The day he would take his own shower, dress himself, walk to her, and maybe even carry her if she let him.

That day did not feel impossible anymore.

He began to unbutton his shirt, and Meadow helped him.

Joseph called Adam to send for Victoria while he tried to call Levi to find out how his mother was doing. Levi’s phone was switched

off, so he called Dr Rosenberg instead. He did not like the tight feeling that entered him when the call rang. He had been away from

the hospital for only a short time, but every minute away felt like something could change without him knowing.

“How is she?” he asked the moment the doctor answered.

“Hanging in there,” Dr Rosenberg replied.

Joseph was glad that he did not say her situation was worse. Hanging in there was not good, but it was not gone. It was not

slipping. It meant she was still fighting in whatever way her body could.

“What about Beta Levi? His phone is off,” Joseph asked.

“He left over an hour ago. He said he would soon be back,” Dr Rosenberg said.

Joseph frowned.

He wondered what was so crucial that Levi would leave his wife’s bedside.
