Giselle listened intently, her face the picture of sincerity. "You run a massive corporation. Of course, you need an heir. That's entirely reasonable. Winona had a physical flaw, yet she received such genuine love from you. She really should have understood your situation."
Yulen let out a heavy sigh. "Unfortunately, she's not as understanding as you are."
Giselle continued to validate his feelings, expertly coaxing more details out of him about his past with Winona.
Listening to him, she realized Winona was just a naive, foolish woman. How else could Yulen have strung her along for five whole years?
She had been worried Winona might be a real threat, but now she wasn't concerned in the slightest.
A woman this gullible wasn't worth her time or energy. She'd let Ophelia deal with her.
Yulen kept drinking until his vision blurred and he could barely stand.
Giselle helped him into her car and drove him home.
When they arrived at the Locke Villa, he was completely passed out. She got out of the car to ask the nanny to help carry him inside.
Tallulah was home. When she heard Giselle had brought a heavily intoxicated Yulen back, her temper flared.
What was this girl playing at? Getting her husband drunk in the middle of the day and bringing him home—was she trying to provoke her?
Cradling her slight baby bump, Tallulah walked out, intending to wake Yulen up herself.
"He's totally out of it," Giselle said smoothly. "You should just let the nanny carry him inside."
Tallulah crossed her arms, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Getting a married man blackout drunk in broad daylight... I really wonder what your intentions are."
Giselle wasn't one to back down. She fired back instantly, "I didn't get him drunk. He ran into Winona, got upset, and drank himself into this state. I brought him home as a friend. Don't bite the hand that feeds you."
Tallulah's face turned ugly.
First, she was furious that he was still hung up on Winona.
Second, she was furious at Giselle. Pure friendship between a man and a woman? Please. Giselle clearly had her eyes on him.
Giselle's phone buzzed with a work call. Seeing that the nanny had already hoisted Yulen up, she didn't bother engaging with Tallulah any further and simply drove off.
Tallulah and the nanny managed to get Yulen into the bedroom.
