After Yulen left the house, Willow came upstairs. She looked at Tallulah and drawled sarcastically, "You are being ridiculous. They obviously just had a few drinks during a business lunch. What is there to throw a fit over? Don't you dare start arguments with him over something this petty again. It's humiliating!"
Tallulah suddenly remembered that when she was busy stealing Yulen away, she had constantly used 'work' as an excuse to see him too.
Now that the karma was hitting her right in the face, she found it both absurd and bitterly hilarious.
Yulen drove straight to Winona's apartment complex.
He hadn't eaten dinner, his hangover was pounding against his skull, and he had just finished a screaming match with Tallulah.
He barely made it to her front door. Before he could even punch in the passcode, he collapsed onto the floor.
Winona was heading home from work. Distracted by a work text, she hit the wrong floor button in the elevator. It wasn't until the doors opened and she stepped out that she realized her mistake.
As she turned around to get back in, she saw Yulen passed out on the ground, looking absolutely pathetic.
Winona gave him one cold, indifferent glance, looked away, stepped back into the elevator, and hit the correct button.
Once inside her apartment, she kicked off her shoes and pulled a small case from the cabinet. Inside were precisely arranged pH strips and testing reagents.
She poured a glass of warm water, dipped a glass rod into it, and touched it to the test strip.
Then, she squeezed a few drops of reagent into the glass.
Seeing that the water was completely normal and clear, she finally relaxed.
She put everything away, poured a fresh glass of water for herself, and filled Biscuit's bowl.
Lexie had already gone home for the day. Winona heated up some leftovers, ate, and immediately dove into her work. As for the man passed out in the hallway upstairs, she didn't give him a second thought.
An hour later, Stefan walked in.
He was wearing dark clothes again.
Winona walked toward him, and he instinctively flinched away.
She frowned, leaned in, and smelled the distinct scent of iodine.
"Stefan, did you get hurt again?"
He let out a soft chuckle. "No."
She grabbed his arm and shoved his sleeve up. It was just the older wound from a few days ago.
"I told you I didn't," he said, pulling his sleeve back down.
