The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 468

Margaret liked to act tough, but in reality, she took all her cues from Glenda. Once Glenda was forced back to the capital, Margaret would immediately back down, and Ophelia wouldn't be able to cause any trouble on her own.

Stefan knew that his eldest uncle had been secretly keeping a mistress outside the marriage and even had a son with her. The entire thing had been kept tightly under wraps because his uncle's wife came from a highly influential family; if she found out, it would trigger an absolute bloodbath.

Glenda valued the family's public image above all else. She would never allow a scandal of that magnitude to break and turn them into a laughingstock. If the secret leaked, she would have no choice but to rush back and handle it personally.

Stefan was well aware of the endless skeletons in the Shepherd family's closet. He had originally intended to turn a blind eye, but since Glenda was aggressively overstepping her boundaries, he decided it was time to let her own house catch fire.

Once she was busy dealing with his eldest uncle, he could conveniently expose his second uncle, who had recently gambled away tens of millions in Aurelia City and had secretly embezzled family assets to cover his debts. And then there was his cousin, who had blown massive amounts of money on failed investments and was currently siphoning funds directly from the Shepherd Group.

When Winona heard him list off the scandals, she was genuinely shocked. "I had no idea the Shepherd family was such a mess behind closed doors."

Violet scoffed. "Glenda constantly brags to the public about her strict household, how brilliant her children are, and how she only accepts the absolute elite as in-laws. Hah. It's all smoke and mirrors to fool outsiders. If you peel back even one layer, the rot is everywhere."

Stefan moved fast.

The moment chaos erupted in the capital, Glenda received the frantic calls and was forced to rush back to clean up the colossal mess.

With Violet constantly keeping her in check, and without Glenda there to fan the flames, Margaret went quiet. Every time Ophelia tried to get close to Stefan, she was firmly blocked.

For two blissful weeks, Winona and Stefan finally enjoyed some peace.

On a Friday evening, Winona went to the hospital to check on Wynne. Ryder hadn't returned to the capital; he had practically taken up residence outside her room.

Winona offered him a few comforting words, urging him to take care of his own health.

Ryder's eyes were shadowed with grief. "If I could, I'd trade places with her in a heartbeat."

His deep, unwavering love for his wife truly moved Winona.

As she stepped out of the ward, still trying to settle her emotions, she bumped right into Yulen. Her expression immediately turned ice-cold, and she turned to leave.

Yulen grabbed her wrist.

"Let go," Winona demanded.
