Wyatt was genuinely stunned at this revalation. That was the very last answer he had expected. He knew a bit of Darin's history, that Mrs. Curtis had brought him into the Curtis family, making him the biological son of the Ross family. Suddenly, all the jagged puzzle pieces snapped into place. He couldn't help but marvel at the cruel, twisted irony of fate. "So does that mean Max is still technically your brother-in-law?" he asked.
Darin simply offered a faint, cryptic smile and chose not to answer.
"The Hawthorne family's ruthless tactics were definitely a step too far," Wyatt noted sympathetically. "Felicia has been entirely innocent in all of this from the very beginning."
Max had only downed a few glasses of red wine, but his body was already flashing warning signs. After being discharged from the hospital, he was supposed to undergo strict bed rest. Instead, he had plunged headfirst into an insanely grueling work schedule, severely compounding the brutal effects of extreme jet lag. Even a man forged of solid steel couldn't withstand that level of sustained abuse. Eventually, a visible wave of intense nausea and dizzying weakness washed over him. Spotting the immediate danger, Darin didn't waste a second and swiftly rushed him to the nearest hospital.
As they hurriedly made their way through the club's lavish lobby, a familiar voice called out, "Wyatt. Max."
Wyatt turned around and was surprised to see Kennedy. "Kennedy! When did you get back?"
Kennedy jogged over to join him. "I've been back for about a month now," he explained. His eyes darted past Wyatt to watch Darin hastily supporting a severely pale Max out the sliding glass doors. "What's happened to Max?" he asked, his voice thick with concern.
"He should be fine. He just had a bit too much to drink on top of pure exhaustion. Let's go make sure he gets settled," Wyatt suggested.
Kennedy quickly nodded in agreement.
Outside, Darin bundled Max into the back seat of his car, instructing the driver to speed to the nearest hospital. Upon arriving at the emergency room, Dr. Halloway swiftly conducted a thorough examination and hooked Max up to an IV drip. Max lay perfectly motionless on the stark white hospital bed, his eyes tightly shut, looking completely, utterly hollowed out.
The doctor turned to Darin with a stern look. "Keep him away from alcohol, and ensure he gets strict, uninterrupted rest."
Darin slowly pulled his gaze away, his fingers curling into a tight fist on his lap. After a long beat of heavy silence, he answered, "Perhaps a little. But then again, I haven't been much better myself."
"Do you want Max and Felicia to get back together?" Wyatt asked, his tone deadly serious.
Darin leaned his head back against the stark white wall and let out a long, ragged sigh. "Rationally speaking, I would much rather see Felicia end up with Jeremy. But she and Max share a child. There is absolutely no way Felicia could ever walk away from Anne. And knowing Max's vicious, possessive nature, if she actually dared to be with another man, he would absolutely make sure she never laid eyes on that little girl for the rest of her life. Felicia has to be in absolute agony right now."
"That truly is a completely unsolvable knot," Wyatt muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. "Felicia and Max are practically cursed to be each other's ultimate undoing."
Darin offered no response to that bleak assessment. Sitting quietly in the periphery, Kennedy just kept listening, his mind reeling. In less than a year, the seemingly invincible Max had actually been shattered to the point of total collapse.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
