But just as she picked up the eggs, her hand suddenly trembled. One of the eggs slipped from her grasp and shattered on the floor, the yolk splattering onto her slippers.
Staring at the broken egg, Felicia let out a quiet sigh. She grabbed some paper towels, wiped the floor clean, and started over. This time, she cracked the eggs directly into a bowl. However, as she tried to beat them, her hand refused to cooperate with her intended force. When she moved to slice a sausage, the knife wobbled precariously in her grip, forcing her to cut it slowly and painstakingly. Once the sausage and peppers were finally prepped, she turned on the stove and heated the oil.
Pouring the oil proved just as difficult. She had to use one hand to steady the other as she carefully tipped the bottle. When the oil was hot, she poured in the eggs, added the sausage, poured in some water, and seasoned it with salt to let it simmer.
Finally, she boiled water for the pasta.
By the time she finished, Felicia let out a long breath. It had been a long time since she last cooked, and simply making some pasta felt incredibly exhausting.
She leaned quietly against the counter, waiting.
A few minutes later, she turned off the heat. Once the pasta was cooked, she carefully scooped them into a plate, then used a spatula to pour the sause topping over them, finishing it off with a sprinkle of cheese powder.
The pasta was finally complete.
Afraid her unsteady hands might drop the plate and ruin her hard-earned meal, she did not bother carrying it to the dining table. Instead, she leaned over the counter to eat. She picked up her fork and took her first bite, but the pungent, fishy smell of the eggs instantly hit her with nauseating force.
She slapped a hand over her mouth, rushed to the sink, and threw up immediately. Even after emptying her stomach, she couldn't stop dry heaving.
She hurriedly turned on the faucet, rinsing her mouth to wash away the foul taste.
When the nausea finally subsided, her face was deathly pale. She pressed a hand to her lower abdomen, her eyes wide with absolute disbelief. She stood frozen in place, her body completely rigid.
It took a long while for her to snap back to reality. She turned and walked out of the kitchen, but a sudden wave of severe dizziness washed over her. Fighting through the spinning room, she managed to grab her phone and dial Tommy's number.
The doctor's words struck Felicia's chest like a suffocating blow. Her hands clenched tightly onto the bedsheets, and her trembling eyelashes failed to hide the stark redness welling in her eyes.
She gave the doctor no response.
Observing her reaction, Dr. Halloway finally added, "Take your time to think it over carefully. But before you undergo any procedure, you must focus on recovering your health and getting proper nutrition."
Without saying anything else, the doctor turned and left the room.
Tommy remained in the ward, watching Felicia's devastated state. For a moment, he was completely at a loss for comforting words. He had personally witnessed how bright, radiant, and confident she used to be. In just one short year, she had been reduced to this heartbreaking state.
"Evelynn," he called out worriedly, asking, "Should we let Ava and the others know?"

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
