Holden and his entourage left. Felicia sat frozen in her seat, the color draining entirely from her face.
"Madam, are you alright?" Terry asked with concern.
Judging from her confrontation with Holden, the two clearly knew each other and had bad blood. However, for a woman to face Holden's ruthless threats with such calm composure, refusing to be intimidated or coerced, was truly remarkable. From their exchange, Terry had also pieced together a rough idea of her relationship with Mr. Hawthorne. At the very least, Evelynn was standing firmly on her husband's side.
Felicia let out a long breath. "I am fine. Go get the documents ready."
"Yes, Madam," Terry replied.
Felicia stood up and added, "Bring a cup of coffee to the office."
"Understood."
Felicia took Holden's hostile takeover proposal and returned to Max's executive office. A secretary soon brought in her coffee. She took a sip and began to study the document in detail.
She thought about Holden's parting words. He was not wrong. The moment Max was officially declared dead, the elite vultures of New York high society would descend, picking his empire clean until there was absolutely nothing left. No one would pity the fall of a titan. They would only seek to drain every last drop of his value, and Gavin would be no exception.
She understood the brutal, predatory reality of this world all too well. Max possessed the power to balance these intricate layers of competing interests. Once that balance collapsed, the resulting chaos would sweep through like a catastrophic landslide or a tidal wave.
Relying solely on her own strength, she stood no chance against it.
Felicia finished reading the file. Holden was completely ruthless, explicitly demanding a hostile buyout of Max's core shares. It was obvious just how desperate he was to tear the company apart.
She set the document aside. It was not until four o'clock in the afternoon that Terry finally finished organizing the relevant files, bringing in a massive stack of thick folders.
"Evelynn, everything is ready," Terry announced.
Felicia gave a nod of acknowledgment before asking, "Do you happen to know the password to his computer?"
Terry gave her an honest assessment. "Thirty days at most."
That meant they had exactly one month. If Max was not found by then, it would be over.
"We need to start drafting contingency plans immediately," she stated.
They worked continuously until eight o'clock that evening. Felicia had not rested for a single moment. She had only drank water, entirely lacking the appetite for food, and her body radiated exhaustion. Outside, the entire corporate building remained brightly lit.
Just then, a knock sounded at the door.
Terry stood up to answer it. When he pulled the door open, he found Gavin standing in the hallway. "Gavin."
Gavin gave a brief nod and walked in, carrying an insulated thermal bag. He immediately noticed Felicia leaning exhaustedly against the sofa, the coffee table in front of her buried under towering stacks of dense financial documents.

Take her back? Want to see her?? Donno about Felicia but I think I’m falling for this Max somehow🫠🙈pls update daily...
I knew it! Hopefully Felicia's health will improve and will want to have the baby. Oh how I despise Max's family....
Please post *I forgot I ever loved you*...
Is this coming to an end...
Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
