Max's voice was a low, dangerous rumble. "Shouldn’t you and Mom give me an explanation?"
Tatiana's fingers tightened convulsively. She stayed silent for a long moment before finally speaking, her tone heavy with earnest pleading. "Max, you really need to see Felicia for who she truly is now. Do you honestly believe she still loves you? If she actually cared about you, what difference would a piece of divorce paper make? You were completely missing without a trace, and she just packed up and returned to the country. You were lying half-dead in a hospital, and she didn't even bother to ask about you. If she had even the slightest sliver of feelings left for you, she wouldn't be this cold-blooded and ruthless! What is the point of holding onto a marriage certificate with a woman like that? I just... I just don't want to see you break your own heart over a woman again."
Max's face grew even darker, the tension in his jaw visibly tightening.
"Max, your mother isn't wrong," Brandon interjected sternly. "Just look at yourself. Look at what you've become because of her. You shouldn't be destroying yourself like this."
Max remained terrifyingly silent. Miranda sat quietly to the side, listening intently but not chiming in.
Suddenly, Max let out a harsh, freezing laugh, the sound dripping with biting sarcasm. "So, this was all for my own good?"
Brandon and Tatiana stared back at him, their expressions deeply solemn.
"You arrogantly wave the banner of 'doing it for my own good' to dictate my life? To completely obliterate my own free will?" he demanded softly, his voice vibrating with barely restrained fury. "What exactly are you so dissatisfied with? That she doesn't perfectly bend to your every whim? If you hated her so much, then what the hell were you doing when you forced me to marry her in the first place?!"
This was arguably the very first time Max had ever allowed his raw emotions to slip through and openly interrogate his parents.
Tatiana opened her mouth to protest, but a single, warning glare from Miranda instantly silenced her. The older woman forced her words back down her throat.
"Brandon, what do you say?" Miranda prompted.
Brandon nodded slowly, looking directly at his son. "Max, this time, you decide the course of your own life. We will not interfere anymore. As long as you are the one who chooses her, that is enough for us."
As his words fell, a thick, suffocating silence descended over the living room once more. Max's handsome face remained a mask of dark, unyielding stone, and he did not offer a single word of response. After a lengthy pause, Miranda finally waved her hand. "Alright, Max. Go on and check on your grandfather."

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
