Darin paused mid-step, looking slightly caught off guard. "Yes, they are nice," he mumbled simply.
Savannah stared at his aggressively blank expression and pursed her lips in annoyance. "I arranged them myself, and that is the best reaction you can give me?"
Darin looked down at the bouquet again, then back at Savannah's thoroughly unimpressed face. He honestly couldn't figure out what he had done wrong. "Didn't I just say they were nice?"
Savannah rolled her eyes, deciding it was pointless to argue. "Whatever. As long as you don't hate them."
She spun around and confidently strutted toward the sleek Rolls-Royce parked at the curb, knowing full well it was the luxury car sent to pick him up. Halfway there, she stopped, glancing over her shoulder at Darin, who was still standing rigidly in place. "Are you coming or not?"
Darin finally snapped out of his daze and followed her to the car. Savannah didn't hesitate for a second before sliding right into the backseat beside him.
"I honestly thought you would fly straight to Cloudville to see Felicia," she noted as the car pulled away from the curb.
"I’m going to visit her in a few days," Darin replied evenly.
"How did Max react when he found out about the divorce?"
"He doesn't know yet."
Savannah blinked in genuine shock. Just as she opened her mouth to interrogate him further, her phone vibrated. She pulled it out of her designer bag and immediately smiled when she saw the caller ID. "Hey, Felicia."
"Savannah, when are you coming to visit? I want to make sure I have everything ready for you," Felicia's voice floated clearly through the speaker.
Savannah shot a mischievous look at the man sitting next to her. "Well, that entirely depends on your brother."
Darin visibly stiffened at the remark. Savannah watched his subtle reaction from the corner of her eye with immense satisfaction.
Felicia paused for a second before asking, "Are you two together right now?"
"Yup. He just landed, and we are heading back to the city. I actually took the day off just to pick him up, and I even watched online tutorials to figure out how to arrange his welcome flowers," Savannah complained loudly, ensuring every word landed.
Hearing Savannah's dramatic venting, Felicia couldn't help but smile. "I'm sure he is secretly thrilled."
One particular evening, Jeremy had to run out to meet a client. Mabel had already set the table for dinner, and Felicia texted him to ask if he would be joining her.
"Yes, I will be there in about half an hour. Go ahead and start without me, just save me a plate," Jeremy texted back.
"I will just wait for you. I'm not that hungry yet anyway," she replied.
"Alright."
Felicia asked Mabel to keep the food warm on the stove. She curled up on the sofa, gently petting Rusty and Marble. Outside, a massive thunderstorm had rolled in. Sheets of heavy rain battered the glass, accompanied by violently loud cracks of thunder. Suddenly, a powerful gust of wind blew the balcony door wide open, sending a freezing chill slicing through the living room. She quickly got up to pull it shut.
Just then, the front doorbell rang.
The words died in her throat as an overwhelming, terrifying cold washed over her. She froze completely in place, staring in horror at the man towering in her doorway.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
