"You need to take a long, hard look at yourself," Darin finished coldly before turning on his heel and walking out of the office.
Max slumped heavily against the back of his leather chair. His jaw was clenched so tight a muscle jumped in his cheek, his handsome face shrouded in a dark, terrifying gloom. He sat in agonizing silence for an eternity before finally grabbing his phone and dialing Tatiana's number.
Tatiana had flown back to the country alone a couple of days prior. In the wake of Max's devastating accident, the Hawthorne family was drowning in a sea of chaotic aftermath that desperately needed handling. She was currently resting at the main family estate.
Seeing Max's name flash on the screen, Tatiana quickly answered. "Max."
"Mom, I need to ask you something," Max said, his tone deadpan.
Hearing the icy seriousness in her son's voice, Tatiana's heart leaped into her throat. She forced a casual tone. "What is it?"
"Over the past month, did you ever go looking for Felicia?"
Tatiana let out an exaggerated sigh of frustration. "You were in a horrible accident, Max. Do you really think I had the time or energy to care about what she was doing? You have never acted like this before. She is just a woman. Why are you driving yourself crazy over her?"
"Mom, for your sake, I hope you truly did nothing," Max warned, his voice dropping to a terrifyingly low whisper before the line went dead.
Tatiana stared at the phone, her face draining of color. She sank onto the luxurious living room sofa, visibly shaken. Brandon stepped out of the adjoining hallway and noticed her panic.
"What is wrong? That was Max on the phone, right? What did he say?" Brandon asked, frowning.
"He is completely obsessed with Felicia right now," Tatiana groaned, rubbing her temples. "He called specifically to question me about her. He still has no idea that their divorce was finalized behind his back. Brandon, how on earth are we supposed to tell him?"
The sheer intensity in Max's voice had terrified her.
Brandon's eyes narrowed thoughtfully. "Has he really not spoken to Felicia at all this past month? Did she not tell him?"
Darin faltered for a fraction of a second before walking toward her. Savannah checked her sleek wristwatch, spotted him, and confidently marched over to meet him halfway.
"You are finally back. You definitely earned your 'Best Friend' award for this trip," she teased smoothly. As she spoke, she boldly shoved the bouquet directly into his chest.
Darin glanced at the colorful arrangement before hesitantly taking it. "Shouldn't you be at work?"
Savannah offered a sly smirk. "The big boss gave me the day off."
She clearly knew his exact flight details, which meant Jeremy had undoubtedly tipped her off. Darin decided not to press the issue.
"Do you like the flowers?" Savannah asked suddenly, her eyes gleaming with mischief.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
