Felicia felt a sudden, sharp sting behind her nose. She quickly looked away, blinking rapidly to hold back her tears. Taking a deep, trembling breath of the fresh mountain air, she forced a fragile smile. "When you say things like that, I almost start to believe it myself."
"You don't need to just believe it, it is the truth," Jeremy replied softly. "You deserve the very best. It is everyone else who fails to measure up to you."
Felicia let out a quiet, watery laugh and began walking forward again. "Look, the irises are blooming up ahead."
Jeremy quickly matched her pace. After walking a bit further, Felicia felt a wave of fatigue wash over her and sank onto a nearby wooden bench. Staring out at the colorful flowers, she suddenly spoke.
"I am pregnant."
Jeremy stood completely still. His fingers curled slightly as he listened in quiet shock.
"Dr. Halloway advised me to terminate the pregnancy," she continued, her voice trembling. "But a part of me wants to keep it. Not for anyone else, but for me. Whenever I think of how adorable Anne is... I know this baby is just a tiny little thing right now, but the thought of getting rid of it just feels too cruel." She paused, drawing in a sharp, shuddering breath. "But deep down, I also know that my body might not let me keep it."
Her words drifted away on the wind, laced with a heartbreaking sorrow and a muffled sob.
A heavy silence fell over them. Finally, Jeremy turned to look down at her. "It is best to undergo the procedure within the first trimester. If you truly want to keep the baby, use this time to focus entirely on your health. Give it everything you have. If it still doesn't work out, at least you will know you tried your absolute best, and you won't have to live with the regret. It will simply mean this baby wasn't meant to be, and it won't blame you for that."
Felicia subconsciously rested a protective hand over her lower abdomen. Pressing her lips tightly together, she gave a slow, deliberate nod.
Realizing she was exhausted, Jeremy guided her back to the car and drove them home. They skipped eating out, and by the time they arrived back at the apartment, Mabel had already prepared a warm, comforting dinner.
The moment they stepped through the door, the two little furballs came rushing over, meowing loudly in greeting. They were so incredibly tiny that one wrong step could spell disaster. Jeremy swiftly scooped both kittens up and deposited them back into their cushioned bed. "Stay out of trouble," he warned playfully.
"I am pretty sure they have no idea what you are saying," Felicia laughed.
When Max realized Darin hadn't moved, he looked back up. "Is there something else?"
"What is your problem?" Darin demanded, his voice dropping into a serious register.
Max remained stubbornly silent.
Darin refused to let it go. "Do you want to know why Felicia can't bring herself to truly accept you? Because you are constantly forcing her into a corner. She doesn't feel a shred of security when she is with you. You know exactly what she went through and how much danger she faced after your accident. Yet here you are, completely wrapped up in your own ego and your own anger. You haven't spent a single second trying to put yourself in her shoes. Have you even bothered to wonder why she felt she had to do what she did?"
Max narrowed his bloodshot eyes dangerously. "What are you talking about?"
"Felicia did absolutely nothing wrong. She owes you nothing," Darin stated flatly.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
