The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 964
Jeremy seamlessly shifted the conversation to her work. Though he had already received detailed reports on her professional performance from the company executives, he knew better than anyone the painful reality hiding beneath her capable exterior. To the rest of the world, she was functioning perfectly, but he saw the cracks she was desperately trying to conceal.
At noon, Mabel set out a beautifully prepared lunch. The table was filled with an array of delicate dishes. The meal was intentionally light and designed to soothe an upset stomach.
Jeremy took a seat at the table as Mabel handed him his silverware. "This looks incredible. How has your appetite been lately?" he asked gently.
Sitting across from him, Felicia offered a small nod. "It has been alright. Mabel’s cooking suits me perfectly. You should dig in."
Jeremy scanned the spread of food before looking back up at her. "Isn't this a little light on the protein? Are you avoiding meat?"
Meeting his deep, perceptive gaze, Felicia felt a sudden pang of guilt. "I can ask Mabel to prepare a beef roast if you would like."
Jeremy placed a tender piece of chicken into her bowl. "I’m good with these."
After they finished their meal, Jeremy looked out the window at the bright afternoon sun. "The weather is perfect today. We should go for a walk near the mountains. It's good to get out and breathe some fresh air on the weekends."
Felicia thought about it for a moment. "That sounds nice. Let me go get changed."
"Take your time."
Felicia retreated to her bedroom and changed into a comfortable, stylish athleisure set. Meanwhile, Jeremy stayed in the living room playing with the kittens. Marble, feeling particularly bold, decided to use Jeremy’s pant leg as a climbing post.
When Felicia walked back out, she caught Jeremy carefully peeling the tiny tabby off his trousers. "You are going to ruin my pants, little menace. How do you plan to pay me back for these?" he teased the kitten.
Marble responded with an exceptionally loud, defiant meow, as if she were deeply offended by the accusation.
Seeing the exchange, Felicia couldn't help but laugh out loud. "It looks like animals really take a liking to you."
Jeremy set Marble gently back onto the floor. "This one has quite the temper."
"That's perfectly fine. Her only job is to be cute," Felicia smiled affectionately.
"That is between him and his family. It has nothing to do with me anymore."
Jeremy listened to her eerily calm tone and glanced sideways, studying her entirely unreadable expression. Feeling his gaze, Felicia turned her head to look at him. A stray beam of sunlight filtered through the canopy of leaves, catching the sharp, elegant angles of his face and illuminating the profound tenderness in his eyes.
They locked eyes in a brief, poignant silence, accompanied only by the soft rustling of the leaves in the breeze.
"What is it?" Felicia asked softly.
Jeremy stopped walking and faced her fully. "No matter what happens, Felicia, I need you to know that I am always here to help you. Unconditionally."
His words were spoken softly, yet they landed with an overwhelming, grounding weight.
Looking into his unwavering eyes, Felicia felt her eyelashes flutter as a wave of vulnerability washed over her. "Honestly, I feel like such a mess right now."
"You are not a mess at all," Jeremy said firmly. "You are incredibly strong, and far more capable than you give yourself credit for. Nobody in this world is perfect, and no one is invincible. You have already pushed yourself to your absolute limits, so please stop demanding perfection from yourself. You are already doing wonderful."

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
