Willa looked at him with bright, clear eyes. Her expression carried the nervous, eager anticipation of a woman gazing at someone she deeply admired. Luke finished his bite and nodded. "This is genuinely delicious. It is sweet, but not overwhelmingly so."
Willa's eyes instantly lit up at his praise. Luke finished the rest of the cake and offered her an encouraging smile. "Baking is a wonderful way to pass the time when you have a free moment."
Willa nodded in agreement.
"You do not need to just stand there. Come have a seat." He patted the empty space beside him on the sofa. Willa sat down. She instinctively wanted to lean closer to him, but she hesitated and subtly shifted an inch away instead.
"Have your eyes been bothering you at all lately?" he asked.
"Not at all," Willa replied. "I actually feel like I can see much more clearly now, which is why I took my glasses off." Her vision had always been relatively normal, and she had only worn the glasses as a protective measure.
"I will take you in for a follow-up checkup tomorrow," Luke offered.
"Will that interfere with your work?" she asked. She knew how incredibly busy he had been lately. He had already delayed so much of his schedule just to help her, and a lingering sense of guilt weighed heavily on her heart.
His expression softened into a gentle smile. "Not at all. I have plenty of time tomorrow."
Willa nodded, her worries slightly eased. "Alright then."
Felicia sat nearby, quietly observing the two of them. She could not help but feel a little like a third wheel. "Well, I will leave you two to chat," she said, standing up. "I need to head upstairs and pack a few things."
Luke glanced over at her. "Are you heading out?"
"Yes," Felicia replied. "There are a few things I need to take care of, so I am going back to the Ross family estate for the day."
Luke did not press for details. "That works out well. I was planning to catch up with Greg tonight to discuss a few things anyway."
"Sounds like a plan," Felicia agreed.
She made her way upstairs and changed her clothes. Standing before the full-length mirror, she rested a hand on her lower abdomen. The slight bump was now visibly noticeable, much more pronounced than it had been just days ago. Once she finished gathering her belongings, she headed back down the stairs. She found Luke standing alone in the living room, wrapping up a phone call that sounded like a matter concerning the company. As she reached the bottom step, he lowered his phone.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
