When Max returned with the glass of water, Felicia was already sitting up against the backrest, her clothes properly smoothed out. She met his gaze, accepted the glass from his hand, and took a long, steadying sip.
Max sat back down beside her. "Is your stomach hurting?"
"It has passed," Felicia replied softly. "I am fine now."
"We should still have a doctor come take a look, just to be safe," Max insisted.
"There is no need for that. I really am perfectly fine."
Max simply stared at her, his dark eyes locking onto hers with an unsettling intensity. Felicia's chest tightened in panic under his scrutiny. "Why are you staring at me like that?"
"You seem incredibly nervous," Max noted slowly.
Felicia's grip on the glass tightened, her knuckles turning white. "Why on earth would I be nervous?"
Max's lips tipped up into an unreadable smile. "Do you want some more water?"
Felicia broke eye contact and downed the rest of the water in one gulp. She honestly had no idea if Max was genuinely suspicious of her condition. She let out a quiet breath, forcing her racing heart to calm down. If he figured it out, then so be it. She would not be able to hide it from him forever anyway.
Max smoothly took the empty glass from her hands.
"I am going upstairs," Felicia announced, quickly standing up.
Max remained seated, his eyes dark and completely unfathomable as he watched her retreating figure disappear up the stairs.
Over the next few days, Willa settled comfortably into life at Oakridge Estate. She made sure never to intrude on Felicia and Max's private time. During the day, when Max was at the office and Anne was at school, Felicia would keep her company. Whenever Willa found herself with free time, she spent it in the kitchen, eagerly teaching herself how to bake various pastries.
Luke had been completely swamped with work and could not find the time to visit, but Felicia often heard his voice over the phone when he called. It was glaringly obvious that Willa was falling deeply in love with him. Her voice would take on a sweet, bashful lilt every time they spoke. It was entirely natural, and Felicia was happy for her.
Jeffrey undoubtedly knew that Willa was staying at Oakridge Estate by now, but there was no telling what his next move would be.
With the date of her prenatal checkup rapidly approaching, Felicia quietly prepared to return to the Ross family estate for a few days.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...

It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
