Colton's eyes darkened with disapproval.
"Dad, Ava, I will see him out," Darin said, shoving Max's shoulder to propel him forward.
Max gave Darin a warning look, brushed off his shoulder, and gave a polite nod to Colton and Ava before striding away. Once they reached the front gate, Max looked back at Darin, his lips curving in amusement. "What, are you planning to escort me all the way home?"
Darin rolled his eyes. "Just get lost." With that, he turned on his heel, went back inside the villa, and firmly shut the door. Max chuckled, pulled his car door open, and got in.
The next morning at ten o'clock, the five-day Global Investment Summit was scheduled to commence at the Capital Convention Center. Max woke up early and sent Felicia a message detailing his itinerary for the day, ending with: I will come find you tonight after I finish up.
Knowing she would likely just glance at it, he didn't expect a reply. Just as he settled into his car, his phone buzzed with a message from her: [Max, you had better not pull any more of your stunts regarding Jeremy.] She had been meaning to bring this up the day before.
Max typed out a defense: I am not pulling any stunts.
Felicia could hardly believe he was denying it so righteously. Before she could reply, another message popped up: I merely gave Dannie an opportunity. Whether she succeeds or not depends on her.
Reading his words, Felicia let out a laugh of sheer disbelief and typed back: So you think you did the right thing? You think you performed some great deed?
Max: I wouldn't call it a great deed.
Felicia scowled at the screen, her expression turning icy. Who exactly are you trying to disgust with that kind of talk?
Max stared grimly at his phone. After what felt like an eternity, he finally replied: It just annoys me how he is always hovering around you for no reason. It is not like he lacks quality women in his orbit.
When Max had initially taken too long to reply, Felicia had closed the app and tossed her phone into her purse. Even when she heard the notification chime, she couldn't be bothered to check it. She knew he wouldn't have anything good to say, and reading it would only anger her further. Turning her gaze out the car window, she focused on calming herself.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
