"Was Felicia willing to do this?" Darin demanded.
"Fine, it was my fault. I will try to control myself and not do it in front of you next time," Max replied, his tone dripping with provocation.
Darin clenched his fists, his brows knitted in anger. Seeing Max act so smug and unapologetic made him want to punch that arrogant face. "Don't let me catch you doing that again."
Max's lips curved into a smirk. "Don't be so angry. You are not exactly young anymore yourself. You should find someone to date and settle down. You cannot just mooch off your father and live here forever."
"Look in the mirror before you lecture anyone else," Darin snapped.
Acting as if he hadn't heard him, Max continued in a teasing tone, "I heard Savannah has been chasing you relentlessly again. She has been waiting for you all these years. You really ought to make things official with her."
Savannah's pursuit of Darin was no secret among the elites in the Capital. She made zero effort to hide it, acting quite boldly and showing no restraint even in public. Had it been anyone else annoying him this much, Darin would have lost his temper long ago. There was no shortage of wealthy heiresses and successful female executives who fancied Darin. Many had expressed their interest, both subtly and overtly, and some had even attempted to seduce him outright. Yet Darin remained completely impenetrable, always maintaining a cold, unapproachable distance. Because of this, quite a few women who secretly harbored feelings for him often whispered nasty things behind Savannah's back.
Max remembered trying to set Darin up with someone back when they were abroad, but Darin had turned down every prospect. It made Max wonder what kind of woman could actually move him. "Admit it, you feel something for her at least a little bit, don't you?" Max asked. If Darin truly had zero interest, he would have bluntly rejected Savannah by now, regardless of her friendship with Felicia.
Darin glared at him. "Mind your own business."
"Suit yourself," Max shrugged.
The two men sat in silence, staring at the television. Soon, the nanny finished preparing dinner.
"Hurry up and eat, then leave. Don't let my father catch you here when he gets back," Darin warned.
"Aren't you going to keep me company?" Max asked. "It feels a bit awkward eating all alone."

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...

It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
