Max sat down beside her and smoothly wrapped an arm around her waist. "I haven't had dinner yet. I came to grab a bite."
Felicia cast him a sideways glance. "You really have no shame, do you?"
Max took her hand and leaned closer, practically pulling her into a half embrace. Felicia braced her free hand against his chest, ready to argue, but he squeezed her fingers and leaned in even further. "I haven't been drinking. I took a shower, so there shouldn't be any smell of alcohol."
Felicia stared at his striking face hovering inches from hers. His dark eyes were like a midnight ocean, suffocating in their intensity. Her nerves tightened. "Get away from..."
Before she could finish, his mouth crashed down on hers. His large hand cupped the back of her head, pressing her back against the sofa as his imposing frame enveloped her completely. Felicia's mind went blank for a second. The space around her was consumed by his overwhelming scent, while the faint sound of Anne's voice from upstairs buzzed at the edge of her awareness. Seeing the intimate scene, the nanny quickly averted her eyes and hurried away.
Having finally found Anne, Darin noticed she was sweating profusely from their game. He picked her up to bring her downstairs for a rest, but he froze halfway down the staircase when he saw the couple on the sofa. His eyes slowly darkened.
Spotting her father, Anne giggled and looked at Darin. "Daddy and Mommy are kissing." Naturally, she was the happiest about this development.
Darin masked his emotions as he looked down at the little girl. "Your daddy is bullying your mommy. You will have to teach him a lesson later."
Anne blinked her big eyes, staring at her uncle in confusion. Darin carried her the rest of the way down the steps.
Hearing the approaching footsteps, Max slowly released the woman beneath him, a lingering hunger burning in his eyes. He looked up to meet Darin's gaze as the younger man approached with Anne in his arms. Darin's glare was as sharp as a knife, but Max merely offered a lazy smile. Felicia shoved him away, quickly moving to the other end of the sofa. She turned away, clutching her chest as she tried to calm her racing breath.
"Daddy."
Darin set Anne down on the floor.
Anne bounded over to her father. Max scooped her into his arms, noticing her damp hair, and pulled a tissue to wipe her forehead. "You are sweating so much."

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
