The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 1055
Standing on the balcony, Felicia spotted a sedan parked outside the main gates with its headlights on. Her grip on the phone tightened. "What exactly do you want?" she asked. In the distance, she could make out the blurry silhouette of a man stepping out of the car. Her intuition told her he was staring right up at her balcony.
His voice filtered through the phone. "I'm here to collect my things."
Felicia turned and sat on a chair on the balcony. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Anne staring intently in her direction from inside the room. Her heart sank. Anne had been with her ever since school ended, and she hadn't seen her make any calls to Max. For him to show up out of nowhere at this hour, it couldn’t be about the blessed amulet.
She let out a quiet breath. "What things of yours did you leave here?"
"Do I really have to spell it out for you, Felicia? If I don't ask, you're never going to give it to me, are you?"
Irritated by his tone, Felicia shot back, "And what if I don't want to give it to you? What are you going to do about it?"
Silence fell over the line. She could faintly hear the man's heavy, labored breathing. She truly didn't understand where all his intense anger was coming from.
After a long pause, Felicia lowered her phone and took a deep breath. Composing herself, she walked back into the room and sat down next to Anne. "Did you tell Dad?" she asked softly.
Anne looked up at her mother and didn't deny it. She offered a sincere apology. "I'm sorry, Mom. I couldn't help telling Dad earlier, but I didn't tell him what you were going to give him."
So he had known all along. No wonder he had been proactively reaching out to her over the past few days. He must have figured it out when he picked Anne up from school.
"Just read your book quietly. I have to go out for a bit."
Anne nodded. "Okay."
Felicia walked over to the nightstand, pulled open the drawer, and took out the amulet. She found a small gift bag and placed it inside. She headed downstairs.
Greg was sitting in the living room watching the news. He had just hung up the phone and looked up as Felicia descended. "Luke is in Northwick dealing with some private matters."
Max glanced down at it but didn't immediately reach out to take it. He looked back up at her and asked, knowing the answer perfectly well, "What is it?"
"Don't you already know?"
"How would I know if you don't tell me?"
"Do you want it or not?"
Max straightened up and took a step closer. "Is it really that hard to just admit that you went and prayed for it, Felicia?"
His imposing presence loomed over her. Felicia's breath hitched, and her arm stiffened before slowly dropping to her side. Their eyes met. The surrounding air seemed to fall completely silent, leaving only the rustling of leaves in the wind.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
