That evening, Max attended a dinner banquet hosted by the Rock family. They were launching a massive project crucial to their future development plans, and they desperately wanted Max's investment to ensure its success. While the two families had a long-standing relationship, the project still needed to meet Max's rigorous standards.
Throughout the dinner, the Rock family could plainly tell that Max lacked enthusiasm. He drank continuously, seemingly preoccupied with heavy thoughts. Whenever the project was brought up, he showed little to no interest, leaving Mr. Rock in a difficult spot, forced to offer apologetic smiles while refilling Max's glass.
Mr. Rock shot a desperate glance at his son.
Kennedy had no idea what to say. After a long silence, he suddenly blurted out, "Max, I ran into Felicia at the cathedral a while ago."
Hearing this, Max's eyes shifted, and he looked sharply at Kennedy. The reaction was undeniable proof of his interest. "What was she doing at the cathedral?"
Kennedy could tell that Max still cared deeply about Felicia. Given his terrible mood, it was safe to assume it had something to do with her. "It was right around the time you had your accident," Kennedy explained. "My mom and I went to the Cathedral for a blessing ceremony and bumped into her. I asked one of the priests and found out she had spent three days there performing a ritual. Everyone who attended the ceremony that day received a Blessed Amulet."
After he finished speaking, he watched Max closely, but Max offered no visible reaction. Kennedy couldn't begin to guess what was running through his mind.
Mr. Rock hurriedly chimed in. "Father Lawrence is a highly respected figure. Your wife truly went out of her way for you, Max!"
Very few people knew about Max and Felicia's divorce. Kennedy hadn't mentioned it to his family, and since Felicia had attended Brysen's funeral with Max, no one would have guessed they were no longer together.
As soon as Mr. Rock finished speaking, Max abruptly stood up. "Please, send your company's proposal to BlueMarble Investments tomorrow. We'll discuss it in detail after I review it."
Kennedy nodded, his tone absolute. "It was definitely because of her."
Max had truly fallen for Felicia. His current state was completely different from when he was with Andrea. Kennedy had never seen Max exhibit such intense reactions over Andrea, likely because Andrea had been entirely devoted to him. She had been too easy to attain, leaving no room for insecurity. But Felicia was a different story entirely. Who could have ever predicted that Max would end up like this? Were Felicia's methods really that brilliant?
Max drove straight to the Ross estate. Felicia had just finished giving Anne a bath and was helping her with her homework when she received a call from Max. She looked at her phone in confusion, and Anne looked up at her curiously. She stepped out onto the balcony to answer it. "What is it?"
"Come out."
Felicia was startled.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
