The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 1052

"Mommy!"

Max held onto Anne's hand to keep her from running.

Felicia walked toward them, her gaze landing on Max. The man's face was as coldly stoic as ever. Jeremy stood by his car, quietly observing the three of them.

"Mom, Dad and I came to pick you up."

Felicia reached out and stroked her daughter's head. "Were you tired from gym class today?"

"Not at all. I played basketball really well, and the intructor praised me," Anne beamed.

Felicia offered a doting smile. "You're so amazing, Anne."

Anne grinned, showing off her little white teeth.

Felicia looked up at Max and asked, "Are you taking Anne home today?"

"It's up to you," Max replied.

Anne suddenly tugged at her mother's hand. "Mom," she prompted, blinking her large eyes in a clear attempt to remind Felicia of something.

Felicia knew exactly what Anne meant. She glanced at Max, who was staring right back at her, making it impossible to tell how much he knew.

"Then Anne will come home with me today."

Max didn't reply. His gaze shifted toward Jeremy, and his expression was unmistakably hostile. Felicia saw it clearly. He was absolutely not going to agree to let her take Anne into Jeremy's car. Anne was right there, so he couldn't voice his objections directly and had to convey his displeasure entirely through his glare.

Jeremy sat in his car without starting the engine, listening to Adrian on the other end of the line.

"Dad, I make my own decisions about my life. Stop trying to interfere," he said, his tone unusually harsh. "You should be putting yourself in my shoes to figure out what's genuinely best for me, instead of letting outsiders pressure you into pressuring me."

Hearing Jeremy's words, Adrian fell silent.

After a brief pause, Jeremy added, "I have some things to handle, so I'm hanging up. You and Mom take care of yourselves." With that, he ended the call, started the engine, and drove away.

Inside the Rolls-Royce, Anne was chatting happily about her day at school. She mentioned that a boy liked her and had tried to hold her hand. Actually, a couple of days ago, Felicia had found a love letter in Anne's backpack. To be writing love letters at such a young age meant kids grew up fast these days. Anne was certainly going to have her fair share of suitors in the future.

Listening to Anne's story, Max's expression instantly darkened.
