The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 1033

When she got off work that day, Jeremy sought her out. Knowing she planned to attend the memorial the following day, he gave an understanding nod. "It is appropriate that you go. What time are you heading over?"

"First thing tomorrow morning," Felicia replied.

"I have some matters to attend to in the morning, but Anthony and I will drop by in the afternoon," Jeremy told her.

"Alright," she said.

When Felicia returned home, she found that Ava, Colton, and the rest of the family had already heard the news of Brysen's passing. They raised no objections to her plan to attend the memorial and decided to go themselves. Even though they could hardly be considered family with the Hawthornes anymore, and the Hawthornes likely did not want them there, the Ross family chose to do what they felt was right.

The next morning, the sky was a gloomy shade of gray, threatening a heavy downpour. Felicia dressed in a long black gown, elegantly pinned her hair up, and headed downstairs. After eating breakfast, Greg drove the family toward the memorial hall.

Traffic began to back up hundreds of meters from the entrance. A massive crowd had gathered to pay their respects, with luxury cars and prestigious license plates indicating that all the prominent figures of the Capital were in attendance. They sat in gridlock for over half an hour before the car finally crawled into the parking lot. By then, the bleak sky had broken open, unleashing a torrential rain.

Greg stepped out and held an umbrella over her, gently reminding her to be careful. "The ground is slippery. Watch your step."

"I will," Felicia replied, looping one arm through Greg's while holding a bouquet of flowers in her other hand.

When they arrived at the memorial hall, the space was already packed. Despite the large crowd, the entire venue was utterly silent. Everyone wore expressions of profound grief as they queued to enter the mourning chamber. The Hawthorne family had arranged for staff to specifically welcome guests of special status. As the Hawthorne butler stepped out of the chamber, his gaze landed on the Ross family. His expression immediately darkened.

Felicia noticed the butler as well. After ushering them inside, the butler hurried over to Rose to report their arrival. Miranda was too unwell to receive guests and was resting in her room, leaving the memorial duties to her two sons and the wives of her grandsons.

Colton and Ava stepped forward first to bow and place a flower, followed closely by Greg and Felicia.

Colton and Ava then approached Rose, offering their condolences in soft voices. "We are so sorry for your loss."

They did not personally know Rose, but Felicia had advised them before entering that they should at least offer a word of comfort to the main hosts. Speaking to Tatiana was out of the question, so addressing Rose was the right choice.

"Thank you. We appreciate you making the trip," Rose replied graciously.

"It is the least we could do," Colton murmured.
