The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 1034

Felicia and Greg took their turns stepping forward to lay down flowers, bow, and light a candle. When Felicia walked back to Ava, she softly greeted her. Rose then spoke up. "Felicia, you should stay behind for a bit."

Felicia fell silent for a moment before giving a gentle nod. Ava was clearly worried about her health, but she ultimately kept her concerns to herself, only offering a few words of caution. Felicia quietly reassured her that she understood. Colton, Ava, and Greg then left the memorial hall.

Noticing Luke nearby, Felicia exchanged a brief glance with him, and they offered each other a mutual nod. She then took a spot standing beside Max. "Where is Anne?" she asked in a low voice.

The man beside her remained silent. Felicia turned her head slightly, taking in his tense, frosty profile. She withdrew her gaze and chose not to press the issue. The arriving guests finally caught a glimpse of the elusive Mrs. Hawthorne.

Felicia stood continuously for over an hour. Given her current physical condition, it was more than she could bear. Max instructed someone to take her to a resting room, though he did not speak a single word directly to her the entire time.

Felicia cast a glance at him but did not push herself past her limits. She found a quiet corner in the hall to sit. Once she felt recovered, she returned to her spot.

As the morning memorial activities neared their end, Jeremy and Anthony finally arrived. After paying their respects, they walked over to Rose and Jeffery. "I apologize for the delay. We had an urgent matter to handle this morning," Jeremy explained.

"We are just glad you are here," Rose replied.

Jeremy then approached Brandon and Tatiana, offering his polite condolences. He continued down the line, greeting Daniel and Kate. When he reached Max, their eyes met for a fleeting second. Max's gaze was entirely devoid of warmth. Jeremy looked away and turned his attention to Felicia.

Felicia offered him a faint nod, and Jeremy smiled in return. They exchanged no further interaction. Anthony murmured a few words to Luke, patted him comfortingly on the shoulder, and then left the hall with Jeremy.

The elders of the Hawthorne and Gilbert families shared one table, while the younger generation sat at another. Felicia sat next to Amber, with Max taking the seat beside her. From the moment they sat down until the meal ended, he did not speak a single word to her. The tension between them was obvious to anyone paying attention. The atmosphere at the table was incredibly stifling, while the neighboring table quietly discussed the upcoming funeral arrangements.

Once lunch concluded, Felicia excused herself from Amber and went to find Ava and the rest of her family. Jeremy and Anthony were standing with them. "How are you, Felicia?" Ava asked, rushing forward to grab her hand, deeply concerned about her condition.

"I am fine," Felicia assured her.

"Well, there really is nothing left for you to do here. Let’s head home," Ava suggested. Felicia and Max were already divorced, and after the sordid scandal Max had caused, Felicia staying to greet guests was already an act of supreme grace. Several highly influential figures were present today, and Felicia remaining by Max's side essentially helped salvage his public image. But Felicia's heart was entirely focused on Anne.
