"I just spoke with the Professor a moment ago," Felicia replied. "He should be coming down any minute now."
A few minutes later, Jeremy made his way downstairs. Felicia opened the door for him, noting that his expression was perfectly calm. There seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary. "Come on in."
Jeremy swapped his shoes for slippers and stepped inside. Spotting Savannah, he glanced around the living room and asked, "You didn't go looking for Darin?"
Savannah arched an eyebrow. "I'm not that desperate. I'll just wait for him right here."
Jeremy smiled faintly before offering a word of caution. "You might want to rein it in a little. Don't put too much pressure on him."
"Is his stress tolerance really that low?" Savannah scoffed.
"Just be mindful," Jeremy advised calmly. "Don't be too aggressive. It's always best to know when to pull back and when to push forward."
Savannah raised a brow, teasing him playfully. "Oh? Are you speaking from personal experience, Mr. Milman? Why don't you give me a live demonstration?"
Felicia helped carry the dishes to the dining table. Looking at the group, she called out, "Everyone, time for lunch."
After lunch, Jeremy stayed for a short while before taking his leave. An old friend who had recently returned from abroad happened to be in Cloudville, and they had arranged to meet up. The three women then took the two children to visit a local museum.
During the outing, Felicia received another call from Darin. He informed her that he needed to make a sudden trip back to Northwick. She frowned instinctively, but his tone did not sound like he was lying.
"What's the emergency?" she asked.
Hearing this, the tight crease between Savannah's brows relaxed slightly. "He's probably going back to see Mrs. Curtis. I heard she fell gravely ill and was admitted to the ICU."
Savannah had been chatting with her mother just the day before. Joy, naturally, had called to pressure her about marriage. Savannah had firmly stated that she already had a target in mind and was determined to win him back.
When Joy heard her daughter's bold declaration, she was surprisingly supportive. Truthfully, Savannah’s parents had always been highly satisfied with Darin. When the engagement was broken off, they had initially felt he lacked a sense of responsibility. But now, the complex feuds between the Foxhall and Curtis families were common knowledge among Northwick's elite circles. Everyone finally understood that Darin had simply been enduring humiliation while plotting his rise. A man with his level of capability, ruthlessness, and current bachelor status was now the prize of the city. Countless women had their eyes on him.
Darin was objectively superior to every single blind date Joy had arranged for Savannah. There was simply no comparison. Naturally, Joy fully supported her daughter's campaign to win him back. She had even offered tactical advice, casually mentioning Mrs. Curtis's severe hospitalization in the process.
Savannah had initially assumed Darin had completely severed ties with Yvonne. But the moment the words left her mouth, she realized what she had just said and quickly covered her mouth with her hand.
Yvonne was Felicia's biological mother.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
