Terry stood perfectly straight in front of the desk, taking in Mr. Hawthorne's awful expression. It was obvious they had gotten into another fight.
Given the ordeal Mr. Hawthorne had recently gone through, one would expect a married couple to be filled with the joy and relief of surviving a disaster. But clearly, that wasn't the case here. The atmosphere over the past while had been so oppressive it was hard to breathe. Everyone had to be extremely careful, terrified of making even the slightest mistake. Things had improved slightly since Mr. Hawthorne's return, but why were they arguing again now?
Having worked with Mr. Hawthorne for several years, Terry knew he wasn't someone who showed his emotions easily. He was always strict and unsmiling, making it impossible for outsiders to guess what he was thinking. His energy and self-control were terrifyingly absolute. Yet now, Terry could palpably feel Mr. Hawthorne's intense anger. His mood was terrible.
In the past, Terry could never imagine what kind of woman would marry him and win his favor. He had assumed Mr. Hawthorne would marry a gentle woman who would stay home, support her husband, and raise their children. Now he knew. Given Evelynn's strong personality, it was impossible for her to simply stay home and play the traditional wife. And surprisingly, Mr. Hawthorne had accepted this frustrating reality.
Judging by Mr. Hawthorne's attitude during the phone call with Evelynn just now, Terry could somewhat guess what happened. Even without knowing the specifics, it seemed Mr. Hawthorne had done something that disgusted Evelynn and got caught. Naturally, Mr. Hawthorne wouldn't show weakness and admit his fault. They both had strong personalities. It wouldn't be easy for them to work things out.
Thump.
Terry jumped in surprise as he watched Mr. Hawthorne throw his phone heavily onto the desk. Seeing his boss's face turn ashen, Terry secretly swallowed hard, took a deep breath, and spoke up. "Back in May, my wife and I had a huge fight. We even threatened to get a divorce."
Hearing this, Terry froze. Was Mr. Hawthorne worried about Evelynn cheating? It turned out that even a man like him, whom other men looked up to and women adored, couldn't completely control his own wife.
"When my wife and I first got married, she still had quite a few suitors around her," Terry explained. "It gave me a sense of crisis, so I hurried up and married her. In those first few years of marriage, we did fight over the other men around her. I just had to keep reminding myself that my wife chose to marry me and gave me two children. She definitely loves me the most, so there's no need for me to be overly suspicious."
"Aside from that one really intense fight, we've been very harmonious most of the time," Terry continued. "It's completely normal for a married couple to argue. The key is having the ability to resolve the problem. Both sides have to slowly adapt to each other. Otherwise, there's no way it can last."

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
