The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 51

Hiding that flash of disappointment, she looked up and asked, "So, Jonah, are we leaving now?"

Jonah Granger didn't look at her. His deep gaze landed squarely on Dominic Fairchild as he asked in a low voice, "Has Vivian contacted you?"

"What?"

Dominic was completely caught off guard. "N-no."

"What happened with Vivian?"

The man's eyes were bottomless, brewing a massive storm. He spoke every word with heavy emphasis. "Vivian is gone."

"How... how is that possible? She was just fine a little while ago!"

Dominic had just been thinking about how his daughter had finally matured. At the very least, she was helping him handle some company affairs, unlike her old self who only knew how to rebel.

Now, right before she was supposed to leave the country, she simply vanished?

And even Jonah couldn't find her. Could she have vanished into thin air?

Amara Fairchild only half-understood the situation. She glanced at the man's expression before turning to her father. "What does that mean? If Vivian is missing... does that mean I can't get my transplant?"

Dominic was equally frantic. He paced a few steps and said, "I'll try calling her right now!"

He dialed, but her phone was still powered off.

"That damn girl, who does she think she is!"

A vein throbbed at his temple. He cursed a few more times before remembering he had an important guest in his home. Turning around, he immediately adopted a subservient posture. "Jonah... do you think something happened to her? This is just too sudden!"

Jonah's eyes were rimmed with an unnatural redness. He took a deep breath, his gaze sweeping over Amara as he barely suppressed his temper.

His voice was hoarse. "I'll have someone take you to the airport. You head to Switzerland first, and leave the rest to me."

Amara froze. "What if you can't find Vivian?"

"Whether I find her or not, I will make sure you are cured."

The moment they left, Dominic received a call from an unknown number. To his shock, it was Vivian's voice.

He instantly blew up. "You ungrateful brat! Where the hell are you? Do you have any idea that everyone is out looking for you?!"

"Looking for me? Why?"

Vivian scoffed. "Looking to cut my heart out for Amara?"

"You...!"

How did she know?!

Dominic told himself not to panic. He took a deep breath and said, "What nonsense are you talking about? Isn't today the day Dr. Granger is taking you to Switzerland?"

"Dominic Fairchild." Vivian sighed softly as she called out his name, her tone perfectly even. "If you don't want anyone to find out, don't do it in the first place. There's no way I'm following your arrangements to go to Switzerland, and I'm never returning to the Fairchild family."

Dominic didn't even notice that Vivian had addressed him by his full name. "What... what do you mean by that?!"
