Zoe stayed silent for a moment before finding a more diplomatic way to phrase it: "Our boss has been very busy these past couple of days. She probably hasn't had the time."
"Busy, huh..."
Simon muttered under his breath. "Then, Zoe, could I bother you to share Miss Fairchild's itinerary with me?"
Even though Zoe didn't know what he was planning, she told him the truth. After all, he could easily find out even if she didn't say anything.
After hanging up, Simon went back into the office to report.
"Mr. Sterling, Miss Fairchild is going to the hospital this afternoon."
Silas's brow furrowed slightly. "The hospital? What for?"
"...That, I don't know yet." Secretary Zoe hadn't mentioned that part.
Simon rubbed his nose, his eyes darting away for a second before he casually dropped a hint. "Say, doesn't Miss Fairchild's ex work at a hospital? Is it possible... she's going to see him?"
He refused to believe that his boss wouldn't react to that.
Silas lifted his eyes and shot him a glare.
"Get out."
"..." Oh.
He got a reaction, alright. The boss just decided to take it out on him.
As the afternoon approached, Silas remained swamped with one meeting after another, showing absolutely no intention of heading to the hospital.
Simon, on the other hand, was starting to get anxious. He couldn't help but remind him, "Mr. Sterling, it's been a while... shouldn't you go in for a follow-up check on your eyes?"
"There's nothing wrong with them. Why would I need a check-up?" The man didn't even look at him.
"Then... how about a general physical?"
"..."
Silas finally set his work down, looked up, and said, "If you have something to say, just say it. Stop beating around the bush."
"...Ugh, didn't I tell you Miss Fairchild is going to the hospital this afternoon? Aren't you worried at all? Mr. Sterling, I really have to say it—if you keep acting like this, how are you ever going to keep her?"
It had been three whole days. If he wasn't going to apologize, shouldn't he at least engineer a "coincidental" run-in to remind her he existed?
