The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 436

Vivian's heart leaped as she rushed over to open the door. "So you finally decided to show..."

Their eyes met, and both of them froze.

It wasn't Silas.

Vivian let out a dismissive scoff and instinctively moved to shut the door again.

Zane held up a hand to stop the door, a helpless look on his face. "Is this the reaction I get? You look so disappointed."

"Of course I'm disappointed." Vivian glanced at the phone still in his hand; the call was still connected, and Scarlett's voice drifted out faintly. She shifted her gaze back to his face. "Is Zane Chase planning on stepping out on his relationship?"

Zane frowned slightly. "What nonsense are you talking about?"

"You have a fiancée."

Vivian was stating a fact, but also giving him a warning.

"Vivian, it's not what you think." Zane finally lowered the phone. His eyes kept darting toward the room; it was obvious he was extremely worried about Scarlett.

His voice was low and steady. "Let me take her home. I'll explain the rest to you when I get the chance."

"No need to explain."

Vivian stepped aside to let him in. "I have no interest in your private life. Just keep me out of it."

Her personality had always been like that.

Zane rubbed the bridge of his nose in resignation and walked inside.

Scarlett lay on the couch with her eyes closed, clutching the phone like it was a treasure. She was babbling nonstop—one second asking why he had to lie to her, the next calling him a total bastard.

She just kept repeating the same phrases over and over, completely incoherent.

Vivian stood to the side with her arms crossed. When Zane pulled Scarlett up to a sitting position, she noticed the tears gathering at the corners of Scarlett's eyes.

Zane took the phone from her hand, glanced at it, and turned to hand it back.

Vivian caught it and sat down on the other side.

"Don't touch me... who the hell are you?!"

Scarlett swung her arm wildly and smacked Zane right on the shoulder. Completely oblivious, she continued to act tough. "Let me tell you, if you try anything with me tonight, my husband won't let you get away with it!"

The man's gaze paused. He turned his head and asked, "Who is your husband?"

"Ryan Gosling!"

"..."

Zane didn't bother wasting any more breath on her. He simply hoisted her over his shoulder. Not a single trace of emotion crossed his handsome face as he looked back at Vivian and said, "I'm leaving."
