She looked at the screen of her phone, staring at the woman surrounded by men. A cold smirk touched her lips—it was hard to tell if it was self-mockery or something else.
Downing her last glass of wine, she stumbled up and headed outside.
Vivian thought she saw a familiar silhouette, but someone blocked her view, and by the time she looked again, the person was gone.
"What are you staring at?"
Scarlett returned from her phone call and sat back down.
She leaned in close to Vivian's ear. "Did you see anyone you like? If you did, you can take them home. It's on me."
"...You're awfully generous."
Vivian let out a dry chuckle. "Keep the ones you like for yourself. I don't need them."
"Aren't you in a cold war with Silas? Don't you need to blow off some steam?"
"No, I don't. Unlike you, I'm not some lonely soul with nowhere to take out my frustrations."
That sentence seemed to hit a nerve. Scarlett turned her head and downed the rest of her drink in one gulp. "I'll show you how I blow off steam tonight!"
With that, her gaze swept the room and landed on one of the men.
"You! You're coming with me tonight."
"..."
Vivian looked at her like she was crazy. "Are you sure?"
"I'm sure."
Scarlett wasn't exactly drunk, just a little buzzed. She waved her hand dismissively and leaned against the man. "You're not hooking up, so I can't either? It's not like I have anyone to be afraid of!"
Vivian didn't say anything, but her intuition told her that the phone call Scarlett had just taken wasn't a simple one.
As for who it was...
Zane.
To prevent anything from going wrong, Vivian made Scarlett and the guy get into her car.
The hotel Zoe had booked wasn't too far, about a thirty-minute drive from the club. Scarlett sang loudly the whole way, making an absolute racket.
The man slipped into character very quickly, gently pulling back her hand every time she tried to stick it out the window, coaxing her softly. "Be good. Don't stick your hand out."
"I want to!"
Scarlett was annoyed. "Are you trying to control me too?"
"It's not safe."
