The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 431

The car parked in the underground garage, quiet and dim.

"Where are we?"

"The airport."

"Did you carry me here?"

"Yeah, so just secretly enjoy it."

"..."

"Get out if you're awake. I changed our flight to tonight. We're heading back to Northside."

With that, Silas opened the car door and stepped out first.

Simon was standing right there. It was hard to tell when he had arrived.

"Mr. Sterling. Miss Fairchild."

"Didn't Vincent say the earliest flight was tomorrow morning?"

Simon couldn't outright say that Vincent had lied to her. He just smiled. "Maybe Mr. Vaughan was mistaken. There were still two flights out tonight."

Even though he didn't say it directly, how could Vivian not understand what that meant?

Vincent was helping Marcus, too. No matter how good he was to her, the scales were always going to tip toward his own family.

Vivian stayed silent the whole way through security and boarding.

As the plane took off, she could see the entirety of Bayport below. The bustling, gorgeous international metropolis seemed forever painted in shades of glitz and glamour.

After a three-hour flight, they landed back in Northside.

Simon had arranged for a car to pick them up in advance.

They arrived home at ten o'clock, but Mrs. Gable hadn't left yet. Silas must have specifically asked her to stay. She had prepared a full table of food and was waiting for them.

"Miss, you're finally back."

Mrs. Gable smiled, her gaze sweeping over Silas before she nervously wiped her hands on her apron. "Sir... you two eat first. I'll clean up before I go."

"You've worked hard, Mrs. Gable. You should head home first. We'll handle the rest tomorrow."

"Oh, alright."

Mrs. Gable agreed, packed up her apron, and left.

Vivian drummed her fingers against the dining chair, a playful smile on her lips. "Are you trying to get some alone time with me?"

"You're overthinking it."
