The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 412

Vivian looked at his commanding presence and inexplicably felt a chill in her heart. It wasn't that she was diminishing her own courage; it was just that the impression Marcus had left on her in her early years was far too ruthless.

She grabbed a throw pillow and hugged it against her chest, as if that would give her a sense of security.

"Am I going to eat you alive?"

"You won't eat me, but what you'd do is far more terrifying."

Vivian was simply stating a fact.

If she hadn't brought up Darcy just now, this man would have definitely found a way to make things difficult for her.

She sighed silently and said, "You already had someone search my bag, and you saw the letter. Why are you still keeping me here? Are you worried Darcy won't show up?"

Darcy had left that letter so Marcus wouldn't harass her. But she never expected him to vanish for so long, only to reappear and essentially kidnap Vivian without even giving her a chance to explain.

The letter had stated she would return to celebrate Old Mr. Vaughan's birthday.

"Whether she comes or not, you had to be here."

In other words, if Darcy didn't show up, he would use Vivian to force her out of hiding.

Vivian was speechless. "If you really thought using me as a threat would work on her, you two would have met years ago."

Why would he need to wait until now?

The man's lips curled up, but there was not a trace of a smile in his eyes.

"Whether it works or not, we'll know once we try, won't we?"

"..."

After saying that, he got up and walked out, instructing Milton, who was standing at the door, "Keep an eye on her. If she runs off, you'll answer to me."

Milton responded, "Understood."

"..."

Vivian sat in a daze for a long while before lying down on the sofa. The dappled lights on the ceiling made her involuntarily squint, so she raised a hand to shield her forehead, covering her clear eyes as well.

She wasn't sure how much time had passed.

She suddenly sat up straight.

"I want food!"

Two seconds later, Milton pushed the door open. "Miss Fairchild, what would you like to eat?"
