The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 404

After a quick shower, Vivian grabbed a button-down shirt from the closet, leaving the top two unbuttoned to reveal a tantalizing hint of cleavage.

A forty-five-degree angle, and snap.

She sent the photo over.

[It's getting late, so rest up. I was chatting with Grandpa until just now, so I won't bother you anymore. Goodnight, kisses.]

There was no reply. Silas rarely engaged with her playful banter.

Unfazed, Vivian tossed her phone aside and stared up at the ceiling.

The pale yellow light cast a soft halo around the patterned lampshade. The decor was unmistakably a relic of the older generation.

Just like... that vintage cabinet.

It clashed completely with the multi-million-dollar estate.

A mocking smile tugged at the corners of Vivian's lips as she closed her eyes.

The next morning, Vivian didn't see Old Mr. Sterling. After breakfast, she drove to the office, walking in right on Zoe Hunt's heels.

"Boss, I looked into Dominic Fairchild's itinerary. He booked a flight to Northside for tomorrow night."

Vivian didn't even blink, letting out a soft scoff. "Did he finish cleaning up the mess at his company already?"

"I don't have the exact details, but Fairchild Enterprises supposedly secured a new contract recently. A mystery investor injected some capital, keeping their basic operations afloat. But I have a feeling..."

Zoe paused for a second before continuing.

"He's probably coming to stir up trouble for us."

Of course he was.

If he was making the trip, why wouldn't he pick a fight?

After all, Vivian had walked away with a massive sum of cash and conned her mother's company right out of his hands. There was no way Dominic could swallow that kind of insult. He was just waiting for the right moment.

He had likely come fully prepared this time.
