Downstairs, outside Sterling Tower, the woman leaned lazily against the car door, looking breathtakingly glamorous and utterly unattainable.
Pedestrians cast lingering glances her way, but she kept her gaze fixed straight ahead until a figure emerged from the entrance.
In that instant, her smile bloomed like a radiant rose, completely dazzling.
She opened her arms and ran to throw herself into the man's embrace, the impact causing him to instinctively stumble a half-step back.
"You made me wait ten minutes. How are you going to make it up to me?"
"How do you want me to make it up to you?"
"A kiss."
"..."
Ignoring the stares of the people around them, Vivian stood on her tiptoes and pressed a kiss to the man's lips.
Silas looked down at her, his dark eyes appearing as though they were steeped in a thick, unreadable mist.
They got into the car.
Vivian drove.
Whenever she had the chance, she couldn't resist trying to grab his hand.
He frowned, shooting her a warning glare. "Focus on driving."
"Oh," she complied.
But her eyes seemed to have a mind of their own, darting toward him uncontrollably.
This profound sense of reliance could easily create the illusion that she was truly, madly in love with him.
Back at the villa, Martha Gable had already prepared dinner. Vivian was in an excellent mood and smiled as she invited her to join them.
Martha politely declined, looking at the two of them with a deeply gratified expression.
It was a rare sight!
In all this time, she had never witnessed such a harmonious scene between them.
"Miss Fairchild, sir, I actually have some matters to attend to at home... Take your time eating. Just leave the dishes, and I'll clean them up first thing tomorrow morning."
Once Martha left, Vivian and Silas were the only ones remaining in the dining room.
She put on quite the show, acting every bit the dedicated caretaker.
"I'll cut the meat off the ribs for you. Eat this!"
However, she didn't do a very good job and nearly pricked her finger on a sharp bone.
