When the ambulance arrived, she followed him into the back.
Silas remained completely silent the entire time. His face was as handsome, deep, and mysterious as ever. Even covered in blood, he radiated the bewitching allure of a vampire and the commanding presence of pure aristocracy.
Soon, people came to clean up the scene, and the gala resumed.
Watching the fake expressions on everyone's faces, Scarlett exhaled a heavy breath of frustration.
At some point, a figure suddenly appeared beside her.
She didn't even need to look to know who it was. Turning her gaze, she said coldly, "Your staff is incredibly negligent. They injured my boyfriend like that. How do you plan to compensate us?"
"If Ms. Sinclair's boyfriend is hurt, why didn't she go to the hospital with him?"
"...Is that any of your business?"
The man's dark gaze enveloped her as he spoke in a heavy tone. "You seem to care about him so much, but he doesn't seem to care about you at all. Didn't he just leave with another woman?"
"..."
He saw everything far too clearly.
For some reason, the inexplicable fire in Scarlett's chest burned even brighter. "That is between us and has nothing to do with you. Right now, we're talking about the fact that my boyfriend was injured at your gala. Do you know who he is? I doubt you can afford to cross him."
The man swirled the champagne in his glass, his features radiating an aloof indifference, as if the situation had nothing to do with him.
"He was hauled away by an ambulance, yet you're still here arguing with me over these pointless issues, and you don't even mind the other woman... It seems you don't care about him that much either, or perhaps..."
He looked up, his deep pupils flashing with absolute sharpness.
"He's just some random guy you found to help you put on an act?"
Scarlett quietly gritted her teeth, her eyes as cold as ice.
"You care so much whether my boyfriend is real or fake. Do you desperately want him to be fake?"
"No."
The man offered a half-smile. "Ms. Sinclair already knows I have a fiancée."
With that, she turned to leave.
But her hand was suddenly seized by a powerful, unyielding grip.
He turned his head back, his aura shifting invisibly. It was as if a sleeping lion had just awakened, and his terrifying, dominant presence instantly engulfed her.
"Scarlett, you've had it way too easy."
His calm voice was laced with profound danger.
With just a glance from him, bodyguards approached from a distance. "Boss."
"Take her upstairs. No one is allowed to let her go without my orders."
Handing her over to the bodyguards, he turned on his heel and walked away.
Watching his tall, ruthless back, Scarlett struggled futilely before roaring out, "Chase, you wouldn't fucking dare treat me like this! You wouldn't fucking dare!"
