The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 377

At seven-thirty that evening, Silas's car picked up Scarlett and headed to Eastside International.

As soon as she got in, Scarlett leaned close. "To make sure this looks authentic later, let's practice now. Come on, call me babe."

The man's expression was icy as he pulled away the hand she had touched.

"Either sit three feet away, or get the hell out of the car right now."

Scarlett was furious, but knowing this man was entirely capable of throwing her out, she obediently slid over. "I really don't get it. You act all high and mighty all day long—are you planning to become a monk or what? How does Vivian put up with you?"

"Mind your own business."

Silas stared straight ahead. "I'll say the ugly truth first. No touching later. If you just stand quietly beside me, I'll let you look good. Otherwise, you know what will happen."

"...What do you mean, no touching?"

Scarlett was shocked. "I asked you here to pretend to be my boyfriend. Holding hands isn't too much to ask, is it? I even wanted you to kiss me."

"Scarlett."

The man shot her a warning glare. "Don't be disgusting."

"I'm disgusting?!"

Un-fucking-believable!

"I have to ask, Silas, what the hell are you so arrogant about? Do you know how famous I am out there? The line of men chasing me stretches all the way to France! And you call me disgusting?"

"Then your eyesight is pretty impressive, seeing all the way to France from here. Is that some rare form of farsightedness?"

"You...!"

Forget it...

Why bother arguing with him? It wasn't worth the headache!

"I finally get it, Silas... you absolutely deserve to be single for twenty-odd years, and you deserve to be rejected by Grace Gifford. Vivian must be completely blind to fall for you, or do you have some kind of blackmail on her?"

The dim lighting cast shifting shadows over Silas's eyes, making it impossible to tell what he was looking at.

"I'd like to know too. Why don't you go ask her?"

"Silas, you're a stubborn brick wall. Truthfully, if it weren't for the halo the Sterling Family gives you, do you think anyone out there would willingly put up with you?"

"Right. And you were born into the Sinclair family, yet no one puts up with you either? You even got dumped by that bastard."

"..."

If she spoke one more word to him, she wouldn't be a Sinclair!

Scarlett felt extremely unbalanced. When they arrived and stepped out at Eastside International, she forcefully linked her arm through Silas's, muttering through gritted teeth, "So many people are watching. If you dare shake me off right now, I'll kill you."

Whether it was that threat that worked or if Silas had always planned on acting like a decent human being, he didn't shake her off this time.

A gala hosted by a globally renowned company meant everyone who received an invitation was a person of status.

The moment Silas and Scarlett appeared at the entrance, they immediately drew a lot of attention.

Business acquaintances came over with drinks to say hello.

Since Silas couldn't drink, the task fell on Scarlett. She practically ground her teeth into dust, forcing a bright smile while glaring at the man beside her, who remained elegant and composed, completely ignoring her plight.
