The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 354

iMessage, phone contacts.

Deleted and blocked in one smooth sequence.

She set the phone down and playfully stroked his chin, throwing his earlier words right back at him. "You're a married man now. Don't just do whatever you want because you're handsome."

She was quite adept at turning his logic against him.

"Can we eat now?"

Vivian gave him a pitiful look. "I only had a bowl of plain oatmeal this morning. I'm starving. Feel my stomach if you don't believe me."

Silas stared at her for a moment before giving a slight nod. "Eat."

Catching her lingering gaze, he scoffed. "Feed yourself. Don't expect me to do it."

"..." Busted.

Vivian picked up her fork. "Then push that plate a little closer, I can't reach."

Silas slid the plate toward her. His dark eyes seemed to swirl with an unreadable emotion.

Even though it always felt like he was the one holding the upper hand, this woman somehow always found a way to make him wait on her.

What kind of succubus was she?

Vivian took a few bites, then turned to find him staring at her with eyes as deep and cold as a winter lake.

In that instant, she felt as though she were being pulled into their depths, unable to pull away.

"...What are you looking at?"

She stabbed a piece of rib and brought it to his lips. "Eat. Aren't you hungry?"

Silas's sharp brows instantly pulled into a deep frown. With the rib resting against his lips, he was caught between refusing it and taking the bite.

Ultimately, he took it.

After finishing it, he said darkly, "Did you just feed me with your own fork?"

"So what?"

They had done far more intimate things than sharing a fork.

Silas didn't reply. He aggressively pulled a napkin from the dispenser and wiped his mouth. "Get off!"

"No." With food still in her mouth, Vivian dropped the fork and wrapped her arms around his neck. "I was traumatized yesterday. I only feel safe when I'm close to you, so you're not allowed to be mean to me right now."

"..." As if he was always mean to her.

Vivian lifted her head, and in the next second, the man's lips crashed against hers. It wasn't a deep, overpowering kiss, just a firm press of their lips together.

But that simple proximity made her heart race faster than a passionate make-out session ever could.

After a few seconds, her lips parted slightly.

Before she could even do anything, the man's fiery gaze flashed with a warning. They had just eaten; he wasn't going to deepen the kiss.

He pulled back.

Instantly returning to his untouchable, aristocratic demeanor, he lifted her off his lap and deposited her in the chair beside him.

"Enough. Eat your food."

"You were the one who kissed me, and now you're acting disgusted."

Vivian pouted and picked her fork back up.

Silas was just about to say something when his phone rang. He glanced at the screen, his expression immediately turning serious as he grabbed it and walked out.

The woman's honeyed voice followed him playfully. "Come back early, husband. I'll be waiting for you."

Silas stopped dead in his tracks, his eyes turning pitch black.
