The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 353

Liam's gaze darkened, and he stopped messing with his phone.

"He's just here to drive a wedge between us. Kick him out so we can eat in peace."

Liam: "..."

Silas looked at the woman's face, then glanced over at the man on the sofa.

Interesting.

He leaned back in his chair and tipped his chin slightly. "Sure. You kick him out."

"How am I supposed to do that?" Her eyes were wide and innocent, acting as if it were the most absurd request in the world. "I'm just a fragile woman, and I'm still injured. What if he hits me?"

"..."

Silas lazily lifted his gaze, staring at Liam.

"Didn't you hear her? Get out."

"Yeah, I'm deaf."

Liam leisurely uncrossed his legs, walked over, and unapologetically popped the lid off the lunchbox. "BBQ ribs, chicken consomme, scrambled eggs, and roasted asparagus... These are indeed Silas's favorites."

He looked Vivian in the eye with a half-smile. "You certainly have a good memory."

For some reason, those eyes always made her feel as though she had nowhere to hide.

Vivian rested one hand intimately on Silas's shoulder. "Of course I do. If I don't remember his favorites, who else's would I remember? Yours? I'm not that kind of woman."

Silas gave her a long, unreadable look but didn't push her away.

Liam seemed to be smiling, but deep in his eyes, a storm was brewing.

He let out a soft chuckle. "Fine."

"I'm leaving."

He walked out.

Once the door clicked shut, the office fell into a heavy silence.

Vivian pushed the files on the desk aside to make room, arranged the food containers nicely, and handed a fork and plate to the man. "Here."

Silas didn't take them. Instead, he tapped a long finger against the desk. "No rush."

"...What?"

"Did Liam go see you last night?"

"Ah." Vivian put down the silverware, a sudden, inexplicable wave of guilt washing over her. "He came by to check on me, as your good friend."

"Is that so." The man's voice was icy.

Besides, nothing even happened when they met yesterday.

She let out a soft "Oh," and then asked, "What about your phone?"

Before the man could answer, she spotted it on the desk.

She grabbed it and held it up for him to unlock.

Silas remained entirely unmoved, so Vivian just waved the phone in front of his face. Face ID instantly unlocked it.

"I've already made my sacrifice, you need to show some effort too."

Silas said nothing, seemingly curious to see what she would do.

First, Vivian went into the settings and changed his passcode. "Remember this, 1212. It's your baby's birthday."

The man frowned. "Baby?"

"Hmm?"

"..."

A triumphant smirk played on Vivian's lips as she exited the settings and opened iMessage. "I already deleted Liam, so you have to delete Grace Gifford. You can't be the only one allowed to bend the rules."

In reality, she moved so fast she didn't give him any chance to stop her.
