Vivian knew he wouldn't agree. The only reason she brought it up was to buy herself some peace and quiet for the remaining days.
Jonah stared at her with an unfathomable gaze. After a long moment, he replied darkly, "Vivian, there has to be a limit to your tantrums."
"I'm not throwing a tantrum."
Vivian sighed, her tone hovering between sincerity and sarcasm.
"Jonah, I've wasted three years on you. I was too arrogant, thinking that because you treated me so well, you must like me. But this isn't how a real couple acts."
She lifted her eyes to look at the man sitting across from her, remembering the live audio porn she'd overheard two days ago...
She wanted to laugh.
"When two people are truly in love, shouldn't there be some passionate tension? Look at us. It's been three years and I haven't even kissed you. Doesn't that prove... we just aren't a match?"
The man's face darkened drastically. His fingers twitched against the table as he suppressed his emotions.
After what felt like an eternity, he finally spoke. "Is this because of Amara?"
Vivian wanted to say no.
Regardless of whether it was Amara or someone else, she wouldn't tolerate a single grain of sand in her eye.
But just as the words reached her lips, she changed her mind. "Yes. You know it as well as I do. Amara is becoming entirely too dependent on you. With her wedged between us, staying together will only lead to endless fights, so..."
"We either break up, or you cut ties with her before you come back to see me."
She left no room for negotiation. It was practically a threat.
Jonah was visibly displeased now. "I am a doctor. You're jealous of Amara today; will you be jealous of my other patients tomorrow?"
"Therefore—"
Vivian threw her hands up. "We break up."
"..."
Jonah neither agreed nor argued. He gave her one long, profound look before standing up, grabbing his coat, and leaving.
To Vivian, this meant absolutely nothing. With her remaining time running out, she needed to focus on business and preparing for the move to Northside.
"Boss..."
Seeing that expression, a terrible premonition welled up in Vivian's chest. "Don't tell me... another mystery buyer?"
"Yes."
Zoe lowered her head. "I've already looked into it. I heard his background is exceptionally powerful, so it's strictly confidential."
Vivian: "..."
She gritted her teeth. Her urge to tear Amara apart reached an absolute peak.
But after calming down, she reasoned it was better off in someone else's hands than Amara's. That woman's intentions were twisted; who knew what she might do to it?
Once she confirmed it was a lost cause for now, Vivian pushed the matter aside. She had far more pressing things to attend to.
Though upper management had approved the company's relocation, the majority of the staff were still reluctant to leave Southampton.
An entirely new environment was a massive challenge, both personally and professionally.
