Silas looked up to meet her eyes, a dark, murky mist swirling in his deep gaze. "Didn't you just say you felt uncomfortable being looked at?"
Vivian lightly smacked him. "How can someone I hate be the same as someone I like?"
"Hearing you say that, it sounds like you really like me."
[Like.]
That assumption was at least a step above Martha.
Vivian leaned forward and planted a kiss on his cheek with a loud smack. "Of course, I like you the most. Not only can you look at me, but you can touch me too, and you can..."
Before she could finish, the man suddenly smeared soap across her mouth with his hand.
Vivian spat out a few bubbles. "What are you doing?"
"Shutting you up."
"..."
Vivian shot him a glare. "It's not like I'm wrong. Am I supposed to put you in the same category as Harrison Fowler? He's a creep, and you're my..."
The man threw her a warning glance, as if denying the title she hadn't yet spoken aloud.
But Vivian was going to say it anyway.
She just didn't voice it.
Her lips formed the two words perfectly: [Husband].
Silas paused for a moment, then grabbed the showerhead to rinse the suds off her. "So, how do you plan to deal with that creep Harrison?"
"Flay his skin, crack his skull open, castrate him..."
Vivian's voice suddenly trailed off, and she sneakily glanced at the man.
"I haven't done anything yet, but it seems he's already useless. Someone is dealing out divine justice."
"Hmm." Silas's expression was mild as he deliberately splashed water onto her face. "So behave yourself, or karma will come for you too."
"..."
Being sarcastic to her again.
Vivian bit her lip and asked, "Silas, will you help me get back at them?"
"No."
"Why not?"
Vivian gritted her teeth inwardly.
She had never met a man like this, as impenetrable as a rock!
After changing her clothes and heading downstairs, Silas was sitting at the dining table, swiping through a tablet. Vivian stole a glance; it was the stock market.
She instinctively checked his eyes before taking the bowl and silverware Martha handed her.
"Have your eyes fully recovered?"
"Occasionally."
She asked one question, he gave a one-word answer.
She didn't know if he meant he occasionally regained his sight or occasionally lost it, acting like saying one more word was against the law.
Vivian took a sip of soup. "Do we need to keep this a secret so those outsiders don't find out? Let me tell you, my lips are sealed."
Whether it was something she said that he found funny, Silas curved the corners of his mouth slightly, putting the tablet away and standing up.
"I have to head out tonight. Stay home."
"I'm going with you." Vivian turned her head, looking at him with puppy-dog eyes.
